Wow, pippi, you really are planning ahead.
I'd like to get Fright & Rapunzel, also, the new Hidden Expedition & maybe the new Secrets of the Dark (I'll have to demo it first).
I think you're alright with the SEs of the MCF games. I guess it depends on which ones are your favorites.
If I don't get Secrets of the Dark, I'll probably take the opportunity to upgrade Vampire Legends: The Story of Kisilova.

I believe you're correct, JustTheFacts. Genki is psychic!
Oh gosh, the wind is picking up & that means a storm's a'coming. (yay, I got to use a new emoticon, too)
I hope it doesn't knock my internet out.

Genki might be psychic, Justie, but I asked her for a over in the Memoria group play thread. Because I did something

Love the new Madame Fate smilie!
I'm happy/sad because I finished DP7... I enjoyed it so much. Granted I'm a bit biased in favor of the Dark Parables games, but they are just so lovely and beautiful and the music is great and they're so atmospheric and, and, and.... *happy sigh* I just like 'em a lot, okay? LOL
I will say that at this point I think I need a Dark Parables Family Tree because the are so clever about making these games interconnect that I can't keep it all straight in my mind.
Also... I'm not one to get all gushy about the male characters in these games.... however, the prince in the bonus section has a totally dreamy voice!

Oh,... for those of you who haven't played it yet, as someone who hated Madame Fate, I can say that I really did enjoy Fate's Carnival. It was well done, and enjoyable.
I hope you are safe from the storm, DJ! We have had many of them over the past few days, some of them pretty powerful. Be safe!!

JustTheFacts---too funny!
Esme, our weather has been horrible. It doesn't even feel like summer. Temperature-wise, yeah, way too hot & muggy with no relief at night. But the constant storms are getting on my nerves. We have a thunderstorm almost every day/night.
I know some of the MCF games have been panned by a good number of reviewers. I've liked all of them, some better than others. I didn't particularly care for MCF: Shadow Lake after demo'ing. I picked it up a few months later in a BOGO sale and I ended up enjoying it, although it would have to be my least liked one. I didn't see the point in the floating animated pic cubes we had to put together & the "drawings" we had to drag up from our inventory and match..somewhere, and that annoying clanking noise when accessing our inventory.
I have to agree with you, Esme. I love the DP series for the same reasons.

According to BF, as of yesterday, the developers of Fright are working on another fix for the game!
Hopefully, by the time we get it...it'll be totally fixed!

... I see ... that Fright will successfully scare us all ... by the time BF gets around to our much-hoped for BOGO sale.
I thought I would upgrade my MCF games to CEs after I play the SEs to see if I like them enough. Then I decided that I almost never replay a game, so that didn't make any sense at all. (Esme, the DP games are an exception. I replay them when I want to look pretty flowers and things. )
Since I have too many credits floating around, I decided I'll use them on MCF upgrades. Then, I'll end up with a bunch of SE game credits ... and no SEs to buy. <---- This plan has flaws. But I can get some puzzle games - I'm missing a few World Mosaic titles, and I am positive some nice, very knowledgeable people on this forum (cough, cough Justie) have reviewed enough games to recommend some HO games that aren't worth getting the CE. <---- I'm recruiting help to overcome the flaws to make plan work. But I am open to other suggestions ... there are So. Many. Games. and such a little amount of time!!!
I have other things in my head, but since I am rambling about boring things, I'm gonna and go

Ooh! pippi!
I luurrv recommendation requests!
I'll have to have a quick gander at my recent reviews... I assume nothing much older than a few months?
And the assignment is to find pippi some games NOT to waste credits on CEs, but as SEs are okay...?
Want to know about standalone SEs? There are quite a few lately that are not bad - or have you bought all of those you want with the excess pccs?
I know you like D&E of course, and did you like Vox? How do you feel about cuddly critters? lol

pippi--I am always willing to help find games that you may or may not get around to playing
I know there is a forum here for SE games that are really good. Maybe you could get some
suggestions from that, along with JTF reviews.
You might land up with more games than what you can handle!
I am also another one that never played Madame Fate. I really have no desire to, either.
But I do love the MCF games.
tesamoine---glad you popped in. I played Fright demo with no problems either.
I noticed the sale going on today. So....would we be paying the same as if it were a
BOGO? (trying to convince myself it wouldn't so I don't spend).
Now....CE's are $8.39 on sale. 2 would be $16. 78. Before tax.
BOGO would be total $15.something after tax.
Savings around $2.00.
The SE's I do not consider a deal at $4.19.
Can you imagine our temper tantrums this weekend if there is no BOGO.

YIPPEE! GAMES!!!
To answer your questions, Justie ...
1. I don't care how old the game is, as long as it is good.
2. Yes. Good SEs is the quest.
3. Absolutely - standalone SEs are always appreciated! (No, I have not bought all I want!)
4. By Vox you mean the Haunted Legends one - I'm playing it now and I like it. I do not mind cuddly critters. Even if I have to buy stuff for their house. I like the happy games, too.
Basically - I want challenging games. I always play on the hardest level. I normally don't like super simple games - I like the ones that make me think. Also, puzzle games are big hits - I adore World Mosaics (their freemium thing is the only one of those games that I bother with), Gemsweeper, etc. Sometimes I will play the resource building type of time management - I have the campgrounds game, the gardens, inc games, and of course royal envoy. I don't like the dash type games. I am horrible at match-3, and marble poppers make me swear.
OOOH BOY! Can't wait to see what you recommend. I'll end up with about 10 credit thingys, so have at it! (And NO rush; I've got plenty to play right now, and I am going to do the Memoria group play.)
Speaking of games ... I got Defender's Quest from GOG, which is a tower defense / RPG hybrid game. Holy moly is it fun. (IF you like tower defense, that is!) BUT these devs are smart. They put in a casual mode for RPG fans so that you can make it through the game to do the "story parts". But I am having a blast figuring out tower defense strategy - so much that I haven't touched a HO game since I got it. This game flies under the radar, I think, but it is well worth it, especially if you find it on a GOG sale. It was ridiculously cheap when I picked it up during the summer sale, and I have way more than gotten my $$ worth.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Hey Luv,
I played Madame Fate - so far it's one of my favorite MCF games. The puzzles were fantastic in that game. Really creative.
The SE thread is a wealth of fabulous information! And I would LUV (ha ha) to hear your game recommendations.
While a BOGO this weekend would be great; I couldn't use it as I spent all my gaming money at GOG during their summer sale. Got some great stuff, though. We picked up Roller Coaster Tycoon because my other half likes tycoon games, but it looks more like a sim than a true tycoon game. So there may be disappointment there. We'll see.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Okay, the easy ones first - that's puzzles.
Fill and Cross
All World Mosaics from 5 on. But you know that.
Arizona Rose and the Pirate's Riddles (hybrid Grids + HOs)
All Fantasy Mosaics 1-3 My Reviews
Asian Riddles - Very hard, so you should love 'em! My Reviews
Mystery Riddles My Reviews
Resource Management
Adelantado 1-3 My Reviews
Northern Tales 1-3 My Reviews
Other odds and sods
Clutter 3, and less enthusiastically, Clutter 1 & 2 (but you can get it as a bundle). My Review
Deponia (Jigsaw) - unique and amazing artwork. If you are a bit jaded when it comes to jigsaws, this may appeal. My Review
Let me know if you like it, there are a couple of other weird jigsaws I like.
Any punchcard coupons left?

Since you like your games more difficult, I'd recommend Cursed Fates: The Headless Horseman and even more so, Curse at Twilight: Thief of Souls. <--links are to my reviews, and you can decide for yourself whether the CE's are worth the extra price

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I agree with genki about Thief of Souls. I found it very hard.
One of the most difficult I've played is Enigma Agency: The Case Of Shadows
If you like the puzzle board puzzles from MCF series, Azada 2 & 3 might interest you. Also, these have no skip.
I found MCF 8: Escape From Ravenhearst both hard and gross.
Also Fate's Carnival. Nevertales: The Beauty Within as well as beautiful, was so hard I never finished it! But I loved it!
I found all of the Dark Dimensions games difficult. That's it for now but I have a couple of others I'll have a quick read of first...
Oh! I do NOT recommend almost any ERS game as a CE. I love their games, but they really don't other much incentive for me to buy the CE, in terms of what extras they offer. And I'd recommend EVERY Eipix game for the exact opposite reason. They offer real fun in their Extras, and real bonus games.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I will second Arizona Rose and the Pirates Riddle
Have you ever tried the Vampire Saga games? I played Pandora's Box back in '09.
That game at some points creeped me out. Its what I thought might happen that
made me so nervous.
Welcome to Hell Lock I also liked. Break Out, to me, started off promising (it came
out after Hell Lock--its a prequel to that game), but I personally was sorry I got
it. Just seemed, to me, to be not all that scary.
Do you like sci-fi? Space Legends: At the end of the Universe and Eternal Journey-, my all time favorite and Inbetween Land are 3 I enjoyed.
Murder Island: The Secret of Tantalus, Web of Deceit:Black Widow
had interesting stories.
Haunted Train: Spirits of Charon
There are also the 2 Small Town Terror games.
I also try to get games that tend more toward Adventure than HO.
I do have and played Fates Carnival . Very well done.
Have we used up your credits and pcc's yet?

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
WOW! There are some great suggestions above! Let's see ... ... ...
These are most excellent lists Justie, Genki, & Luvto!
First, I will say that you three make me feel like I have good taste in games!
Ok, to go somewhat in order ...
C'mon, Justie give World Mosaics 1 - 4 some love too! (although the first one is not compatible with Windows 8 on BF (Genki, do we have a Thumbs DOWN emoticon?) I don't have WM 4 or 7; there's two punchcards gone.
I also have the Asian Riddles series, fantasy mosaics, Arizona Rose and the Pirate's Riddle (great game!), mystery riddles, and that new puzzler. (Can you tell I might be a puzzler fiend? )
I have all the Northern Tales, but I skipped Adelanto for some reason. The resource management genre falls at the bottom of my list, but here are three more games to try.
I'll read your review for the jigsaw Deponia; normally computer jigsaws aren't my cup of tea ...
I didn't like the Clutter games. I got bored. Well, that and my house has clutter, so I could just stare at it.
I have the CE for Curse at Twilight: Thief of Souls ... I actually think I got it based on your review way back when, Genki!
Cursed Fates: The Headless Horseman just made the list. That's a CE buy for me - so it doesn't count to get rid of the single game coupons. Reading the reviews, I remember demoing it and really liking it. I think I was waiting on a sale to buy it and must've forgotten ( EEK. apparently this is a pattern for me)
Talk to me about the Azada games, Justie - I don't think I really liked the first one... but I can't for the life of me remember why not. They, too, are on the list to check out.
MCF8: Escape from Ravenhearst is one of the ones I am upgrading to CE status. I own the SE and have never played it. I think I'd planned to do a Ravenhearst marathon but never found a good night to stay up late.
I'm working through Nevertales: the Beauty Within right now. I was almost finished with it when my computer died, so it's sort of a slog to repeat to where I was. You're right, it's a great game. GRRR - the Dark Dimensions games are on my CE wishlist - I demoed them and they are really good!
I don't recommend ERS games. Just kidding ... but I do think the quality has gone consistently down hill the past few years. (And I agree with you about Eipix - I just played one of their games and it was really good. Nope, don't remember which one - I can barely remember what I ate for breakfast.
OOOH. Vampires (Genki, can we pretty, pretty please have a scary vampire emoticon?) I'll check out their Saga! OK, here's more games to try!
I do not mind sci-fi, but I don't typically choose it unless somebody recommends it ... so Thank You! That's 3 more to try!
I am really looking forward to Fate's Carnival - I bought it when they did the CE release promo.
OK. This is embarrassing. I have a LOT of games I have not played.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR A WONDERFUL LIST!!!
This has to be my longest post here. WHEW! Thanks for the links, Genki - I think those threads will give me a lot of good suggestions.
