Dark & Eerie Games Thread

Well,  This game took a twist that I didn't see coming when I did my first post.

There is a part that had me smiling.   Someone is getting medical attention-- .

The British would approve--as do I.

Okay, I'd been putting off demo'ing Game of Gods. I finished Riddles of Fate: Memento Mori and I thought the storyline was good, but the gameplay and puzzles were very easy.
With Elephant's games, I think they're either incredibly easy or brain-numbingly hard (Fate's Carnival's hair-pulling out puzzle locks come to mind).

I also finished Dark Parables: The Little Mermaid and the Purple Tide. I will give Eipix credit for their effort in keeping the series going. My favorite DP games have always been Briar Rose and Exiled Prince. The former because it was the first DP game and the latter because it just blew me away.
I started The Little Mermaid and the Purple Tide with an open mind. I didn't want to play it based on making comparisons between the two developers. The gameplay was good and the FROG scenes might've been a tad bit more difficult with very small pieces to locate. I did get bright wide-screen and that's always a plus! A few of the sound FX were still there.
Gosh, Blue Tea games are the most beautiful games I've ever played. The haunting music, alone, has driven me to tears many times. I don't know how they do it, but I get so emotionally involved in the stories, the characters, the scenery, everything.

I'm now replaying Cursery: The Crooked Man and the Crooked Cat. Though it pains me to say this, I think, maybe, the DP series should be allowed to retire.

That makes me sad about DP games DJ. As you know, that is/was my favorite series. Now I almost don't want to play Little Mermaid. I don't feel like being disappointed. Already have enough of that with League of Light: Scarecrows R Us. What a stupid game that just got worse the longer I played. I didn't get all my   and I don't care. I'm not even sure why I finished it. 

Not sure what to play next. Luvto, is the one you're talking about Game of Gods? That had an actual plot twist and a smile? Maybe I need that game. I'm sick of boring and predictable games. 

Man, am I a grump today or what? Sorry about that, folks! 

I broke down and bought Alien: Isolation Nostoromo Addition  for my PS3.
I am a fan of the movie and games.

Well,   I really am not all that mentally swift (or anything swift with these games for
that matter).     I was fuming cause it looked like she was crawling around and moving
like a slug.  
My daughter,   with a knowing smile,  said  "Well,  uncrouch her".   I had tried, no success.
 So I told Miss Smartypants to fix it.
She did.
It turns out the game lowers her when she has to crawl--which I did---but does not
stand her back up.
I thought I had tried every button,   but I didn't push down on the thumbsticks.
She is a Smarty Pants. 

esme---sorry you didn't enjoy your scarecrow.   It is Gods that I am playing.
Will you be getting 3 days off this week?    That is how many days school will
be out this week,  so I will be a happy gamer.

dj--I really did like the Crooked Cat, that,  if I remember right, is on the dark side and beautifully done,
 but I do agree Epix  (whose games I do like) will not be the same as BT. 
 Maybe your right and they should take their names off of future games.

Oh, Little Mermaid is definitely not a bad game, Esme, it's just not the same.

Whenever I knew (ahead of time) there was a BT release, I couldn't wait for it to come out. It's like I got my "fix" for however many months until the next one.
I always thought their games were classy, above par, and I'm not crazy about fairytale games.

Yes, luvtoread, Crooked Cat is one of my all-time favorites. I loved every minute of it and it wasn't even wide-screen for me. I had huge black borders on each side, but after awhile, I didn't notice. That's how caught up in the storyline I was.

And it saddens me greatly that another fine developer got sucked into the iOS craze, when there's still people out there who don't own or plan to own any iOS gadgets.
I've seen the new cell phones. They're quite huge and pretty soon, they'll be the size of a tablet.
I don't want an iPad, I'd rather have a laptop for the same amount of money.

Guess I'm old-fashioned that way!

luvtoread, I had to chuckle about your daughter solving your character's "crouching" dilemma.

My daughter had to program our TV remote control and her husband had to hook up our TV! Too many wires...the cable box, PS2, DVD player, HDMI (or something) wire...I couldn't figure it out.
And hubs is worse than me!

See why I don't need anything complicated in my life when we can't even hook up a TV!

The new MCF game is out, I see, and I have to say that I'm underwhelmed with the graphics.  So typical of what we get nowadays.  I was so hoping that they'd stick with the stark beauty of the first game.  Has anyone played/tried it yet?

I have not, Genki. Dire Grove is my all-time favorite game ever, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be disappointed. It's been a sucky month for this gamer... Dark Parables no longer what it was and now this? 

It's enough to make me want to take up crochet or something.  (I am such a drama queen... )

I demo'd a little of it, Genki, and wow, what a huge file for the whole game.

I got to one of those stupid puzzle locks and called it quits. I'd read the instructions and it still didn't make any sense to me.

There's a difference in "fun" puzzle locks (like in the first Ravenhearst), but these are nowhere near as fun. They're a PITA and they make my head hurt, too. 
I'm actually debating on whether or not I want to play the entire game, especially if it's full of those crappy-ass puzzles.
IMO, Dire Grove 1 had such a spooky atmosphere that will never be matched in a sequel game.

I'm getting ready to play the new Nevertales, if I can squeeze in the time. I've got it all loaded and installed.
Trying to get the house straightened up, bake some stuff for tomorrow. Whew...cutting in on my game time!

I'm glad you reminded me of the new Final Cut. I forgot to demo it. I have no idea what the CE will be for tomorrow (Or if one is even coming out, Vampire Legends 2 seems to be on hiatus), so I'll probably get the same two CEs as you.

Hmmm...I wonder if we'll get a weekend sale with today's Black Friday sale going on?

Yep, happy to see Weird Park 3 finally make its way to BFG! I am kind of disappointed it wasn't the CE version.
I would've bought the CE though I would've been left with "hanging" punches.

BFG's contract with Alawar must be limited to so many CEs per year.

And yes, I do have a thing for the Weird Park games. I adore them!! Since I don't have time to demo Weird Park 3, I'm buying sight unseen. (A big no-no for me, but I have to have it and I hope it works on my computer)

I did get the new Final Cut. I paired it with the new Surface game.

I was a little concerned about the "virus" warnings posted in the BF forum for MCF: Dire Grove, Sacred Grove.
Norton (my anti-virus) didn't show any warnings at all in the demo.
And also, my internet's been timing out lately. That huge game file size could be hindered by my spotty d/l speed. (Normally fast, I don't know what the heck is wrong. My neighbors across the street had the same problem...phoned TWC and got a tech person at their house to check things, I may have to phone TWC, too)

I really, really wish the spammers would just STOP hitting BF's site.

It's very annoying.

Yeah, I spent all my moolah at GOG.  Here's a probable dumb question - the indiegala games are not DRM free, right?  They come with Steam keys?  Just trying to keep it all straight.  I've bought from them before but I can't remember nor can I remember how to log in.  This is why I only buy from one game site - I can't handle remembering more! 

Sometimes they're DRM-free AND have Steam keys, sometimes it's Desura-only, it just depends!  If you look at the bundle I linked (this one: https://www.indiegala.com/friday ) you'll see that every game has symbols above them.  ALL of them have a Steam symbol on this bundle, but some also have an apple (Mac) and/or a Penguin (Linux), and I'm sure you recognize the Windows symbol   If any of these were DRM-free, you'd see an open lock or it would say DRM-free (depends on the site.)

Yep.  That told me exactly what I needed to know.  I couldn't remember if they had any DRM free or not.  Now I'm going to have to dig out my desura login information.  Sigh.  Too many passwords, too small a brain.

Callie the calico kitten is dead. I can't post about it in the Furbabies thread because my eldest likes to read it.  I'm not ready to talk about it yet, myself, just wanted to say something to commemorate the date (last night).  I'll do a proper eulogy later, when the wounds aren't so raw.

This is the best I can do at the moment. Last night eldest and I were on the computer in the office, and Callie (the kitten) was in the room with us -- so we all thought.  My husband was carrying a box in the living room, and never even saw her.  He stepped on her with his full weight, and she was gone five agonizing minutes later.

I can't tell you how devastating this is for all of us.  She was my honey (& eldest's) baby, and he is crushed with guilt and sorrow.  I'm having trouble dealing with it, myself, though talking with my sis and Mom has helped a lot.  Eldest is of course distraught, but handling it better than I would have thought she'd be able to.

I don't know what else to say, except please keep us in your thoughts -- we could use some positive energy right about now.
