I'd also like to squeeze in some good game time. I'm going to have to demo Alex Hunter: Lord of the Mind and I would like to do it sometime today.

OOHH..... ....I had to post just for this emoticon!!
Man, was it cooollldd out today!
The game I beta'd wasen't too bad. Its a SE with some CE-like extra's.
Its about your brother who is taken away by a mysterious fog. 20 years later
your able to find your way to your brother with the help of a fairy.
(I can he you groaning, R-Mom!! ) Its not full of fairy stuff-have no
fears. The drawings of your brother manage to come to life, and there is some
Cruella DeVille-like woman keeping your brother captured.
I think I came across maybe 2 HO's.
I will definitely buy.
I bought Punished Tales--it was a BOGO. Not in a rush to get to it.
I needed to pair another CE with it.

He he, luv. But maybe better a fairy than a naked squirrel?
I am currently playing Alex Hunter and am really enjoying it! It's right up my alley, moves at a good pace and I'm loving the mini games. Also has many CE extras at an SE price which is always a good thing.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
Whatever the game was you beta'd, luvtoread, I'll probably like it, too!! Only I wish there were more HO scenes, lol!
I managed to demo Alex Hunter and 5 minutes in, I knew I wanted it. I used a PCC and can't wait to get started.
I'm still playing Christmas Stories 2, waiting to get all Christmasy. My best friend baked me one of her very delicious (and intoxicating) Rum Cakes. Really, I feel a buzz after one piece.
I think what I should do is eat about 3 pieces and have DH drive me to Walmart. Then, I'll grab a buggy and park it in the middle of the aisle and chat.

OK, I'm frustrated...
Got "The Fog" got a good solid start and loved it...then ran into an impassable glitch!
Steam coming out of my ears right now...

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
Oh no, jeanniemouse!
I encountered an HO glitch in the first few minutes of playing The Fog, when I used the tutorial. I restarted without using it and was able to complete the game.
I may not be in the Christmas mood yet, but Christmas Stories 2 is a wonderful game! Though I don't think it has the appeal of Christmas Stories: The Nutcracker (only because it was the first one and I always hold a special place in my heart for an awesome debut game), it certainly has its own charm.
Once again, beautiful graphics & engrossing storyline are keeping my attention. I'm not sure if the music soundtrack is supposed to cut off abruptly like it's doing, but since it's not affecting the ambient sound FX, I won't nitpick it.
I was going to try and demo Mystery of Sargasso Sea. After reading JustTheFact's review, I think I'll pass. Thanks, JustTheFacts, for an actual review of the game.

Who me? My sis and I have gone out to eat a couple of times in the past few weeks. Very nice, very relaxing. Plus, last week was my vacation, and I really enjoyed getting to spend more time with my husband and kids.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
No worries, JustTheFacts, I know where to find you (either here or BF's reviews).
My sis and I used to go out to eat, but she's on a diet...pfft. She doesn't need to be on a diet & claims to be maintaining now. She's too thin. I tell her to eat a cookie every once in awhile.
We love the Chinese restaurant down the road. And that reminds me, my most favorite Christmas movie, "A Christmas Story" will be on soon (marathon, Dec. 24th).
It's been pretty cold here, too. When I get in the car with all my winter duds on, I feel like Ralphie after his Mom bundles him up for school.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
Well, I've just dragged out an old fridge magnet, and according to that, it is currently 68-70F or 18C, and it is 4.30am, dawn, and the coldest part of the day. That is fairly cool for a night so close to xmas but not all that unusual in my particular town. By midday, the temp should be up to about 80F, 26C.
This is nice mild xmas weather - myself, I prefer it hotter, but I'm not about to light a fire or even turn a heater on!
Mind you, we have very variable weather here, by xmas we could be having one of our not infrequent heat waves.

Gosh, beautiful weather, JustTheFacts!
We had to turn our furnace on in October. This is me after opening my electric bill-->
Severe thunderstorms for this weekend and a foot of snow next week. Man, what weird weather.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
Things are looking grim for xmas here. the days have gone back to early spring weather, cold and wet. Bah! It better not be like that for xmas-new year week. That's when I 'celebrate' xmas by spoiling myself and my cats for a solid week! I even have a bottle of champagne - which takes me a week to finish! And I'd be really peeved if it wasn't a nice warm day for my salads and cold meats etc. We don't do the traditional, some do, but most Australians go in for a bbq and/or buffet instead.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
I've demo'd Mysterium: Lake Bliss and bought it (sale, yay!).
I'm playing Alex Hunter: Lord of the Mind (third day) and what a super game! Nothing fancy about it, just a great storyline and makes-you-think gameplay. There is some voice-over work, but I'm finding the black-box dialogue...interesting (and no spelling errors, so far!!).
A transporter map is available, I've used it once cause I needed to find an action spot. Other than that, I'm taking my time, walking it.
I'll definitely keep this one on my computer as I plan to replay it on the difficult setting (and find the 10 extra symbols).
When I clicked "More Games" on the Menu, it brought up the two Weird Park games. I know Alawar is the publisher, Epic Star must be the developer. I'm wondering if this particular dev did those games, too (I don't recollect seeing Epic Star listed in Weird Park 2 and I've just replayed it).
If so, they do a fantastic job with their games and I am a huge fan!!
Well-done, devs!!!
btw, I did get Mystery of Sargasso Sea using a PCC. I did find time to demo it and loved the spooky atmosphere.
Had to come back in and correct the developer name. It's Epic Star. I have it wrote down in my notebook, but I couldn't find it.

I thought Alex Hunt showed great potential! I'm glad to hear it has. Excellent game for an SE. It is first cab off the rank at Monday's punch card topper.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
Hey everybody!
Just popping in to say hello and I finally finished the main game of Fate's Carnival. I loved, loved, loved it! It made me like the series again and it did it through a fun plot, entertaining games and puzzles, lovely graphics and a bit of sassy dialogue. It didn't need live actors or a whole bunch of "fluff"... it was just enjoyable. I want to give EG a big ol' SMOOCH!
I'm so not up on whatever other games are out right now. Life is just too busy for that, but I'll probably give the new Christmas Carol game a spin just to stay in the holiday mood. (I just baked cookies and am feeling all holiday spirited)
I hope you are all doing well and staying warm (or cool, depending) and nice and dry this holiday weekend!

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
Hey there, Esme! I'm feeling a little bit Christmassy...gonna start baking soon & listening to Christmas carols whilst slaving over the hot oven.
It's been raining here for 3 days now, ugh. Temp today is 69. My mind cannot comprehend this freaky weather at all!!
I did some last-minute shopping today, hopefully, won't have to do anymore till after the holidays.
I've also been reading a book about the zombie life called "Dust" by Joan Frances Turner. Nothing like a weird zombie book to get me in that holiday spirit.

HA!
My favorite irreverent Christmas book is "The Stupidest Angel" by Christopher Moore. It has a zombie Santa in it... and a talking fruit bat, and a very, very stupid angel. It's awesome!

That is true! Nothing's going to change that.
I'm just hoping the Christmas Carol game has a little "spooky" to it. I'll be bummed if it's too cutesy and sweet.
