Indeed I did! Apparently I am part Flying Wallenda.

I played that game---yes, I thought the same thing (Well, not the Flying Wallenda thought-
that is just pure you, esme ).
Did you collect the (if you have the CE there are collectable owls).
That is another thing to do while your hanging around.
Don't worry. You will find more things to love/hate about that game.
Looking forward to your thoughts.
I just bought Grim Wannabe Addams family-but not as interesting as them-Tales.
I paired it with Fear For Sale-Only 13 keys, if you can believe that!
My favorite Fear For Sale was the Cinema one. I like this one, but its not gripping
me like the Cinematic one did.
I also seem to have this uncontrollable urge to save the Dim Grims again.
At least they know how to do Dark.

Oh my yes, I am hunting amid my figuring out stuff about three scenes after I should and being creeped out by my overly cutesy helper. I'm just glad I don't like !!

Yeah, I thought the same thing whilst dangling off the bridge. In fact, the first thing I used the crossbow on was the bridge. You know, maybe try and climb to safety.
And, as luvtoread pointed out...I missed a bunch of collectibles. I'll replay it sometime.
Oh, our little baby scarecrow helper is sooo incredibly cute.
luvtoread, I got the 13 Keys game, too. I'm with you, I liked the Cinema one a lot better.

I started the first Amnesia the other day. I've played about 20 minutes of it, and so far it just hasn't grabbed me. So far I like Doorways better :D

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I've finished Grim Legends 2 and I liked the first one better, even though the story in GL 2 was much darker.
So, I decided to play MT: Blackrow's Secret next. I'd downloaded, installed, and guess what? It wouldn't play due to extreme sluggishness.
As usual, none of my Elephant games would play.
And all the demo's played great.
I thought the possible culprit could be an Adobe Flashplayer Update. I restarted my laptop (I usually "hibernate" it). Sure enough, Adobe Flashplayer came on with an update, which I installed, and now my Elephant games are running fine.
I don't know why, but this only happens with Elephant Games and it has happened before.
I never mess with any settings on my laptop. But I suspect, there's someplace I'm visiting that's somehow affecting my flashplayer and I think it's Songpop on FB.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I confess to playing some of these games merely to understand Esme's hilarious comments in context. I cannot play the Grim Tales games, though. That's a story which needed to die a looooong time ago IMO.
I'm irritated today because the new Dark parables is out but the sale apparently doesn't include the Briar Rose CE which of course is the only CE I do not have. Sigh. Thanks, BF. I'm a sucker for the pretty DP games, but the aforementioned irritation + the fact I just scored a couple of my Wishlist games over at GOG, I may wait a bit.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Hi there, pippi! It's good to see you!
Well, I've demo'd about 15 minutes of the new Dark Parables. Of course, it's a buy (this weekend because I've been waiting on Vampire Legends 2), but....I'm not sure I'm totally cool with the collaboration thing and I'm a huge fan of both developers, Blue Tea and Eipix.
And the reason I say this is, IMO, each individual developer always brings something unique to their games. They all have a distinctive style. I mean, if you've played any BT games before, you would certainly recognize them.
When I purchase a BT game, I look forward to settling myself in, enjoying the beautiful scenery, reading the eloquent text, listening to the poignant music, and watching the story unfold before my eyes.
The new DP definitely has the gorgeous graphics, but, I feel, there are certain elements missing that makes this game, um...almost unrecognizable as a BT game with more of an Eipix influence. (I know I'm being very nitpicky, sorry!)
Now, I realize that 15 minutes is not a long time and I will be purchasing this game. As any Blue Tea fan would know, you don't need all the demo time to make your decision. You only need to know it'll play on your computer, lol!
Here's hoping there's a good sale this weekend!

Yeah, DJ, I saw that BT had collaborated with Eipix on this game ... and that makes me nervous for exactly the reasons you listed! We'll see ... the DP games are my kryptonite.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
So, I just finished playing the Main Game for Grim Tales-Color of Fright.
I am of two minds about it. I did enjoy it. The other day I played with headphones
on and nearly jumped out of my skin from the sound effects. It wasen't too easy
to play, but not frustrating, either.
Now, I am going to try to give my thoughts without giving spoilers.
First of all, James and Elizabeth are soooo close, it put me in mind of VC Andrews
book "Flowers in the Attic"---the ensuing books show how close the Brother and
Sister got. For those who do not know what I am referencing---they were
verrrryyyy close.
This storyline was, well, relying on the past games. Not bad, I just kept thinking
that our "bad guy" was not very original despite his artistic talents.
At one point, I was in the Gray's bedroom.
I just could not tell at first if it was adults or girl's room.
Anyway, game played. Family Saved. Again.
Oh, I loved the diary in the beginning and our Detective's comments about
her past Adventures with her family.
She likes visiting because something along the lines of their having exciting lives.
I am glad I buy games on sale, cause I just don't think they are worth the full price
tag.
Otherwise, wait for the SE. (I have not played the Bonus yet, but I doubt it will
change my opinion.)

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Oh my gosh!!! I was in the new DP's forum and read a post that Churchill Downs bought BFG. So I typed Churchill Downs (I thought it was the horse track for the Kentucky Derby and I was kind of wondering about that) in my browser and it's true.
They purchased BFG for $885 million. Wow, that's ALOT of money!!
But, more importantly, I wonder what's going to happen with our games?
And the worrying begins...again!

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Yeah, DJ, I saw that. It seems pretty much a done deal - there's no way they're violating any M&A acquisitions. I'm going to use my remaining punch cards, get the few remaining games I want to play and cash out.
Then I'm going to download all my games to an external drive (with Genki's help on that) and jump ship to Gamehouse if I want a casual game.
This is ridiculous, and the last 3 customer service emails I've sent remain unanswered.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I didn't know anything about it, pippi. I should've figured something like this was going to eventually happen.
That's how it is with the big businesses. Build a company up, make some money, then sell for a phenomenal amount of cash when the time is right.
If I quit my BFG membership, I think I'll just quit gaming...period.
Well, I may check out Alawar's site. They seem to get Premium Editions of certain games whereas BFG will only get the SE.

dj----you cannot just quit gaming..... ....no more than you can quit chocolate
I am hoping this Kentucky Derby company will realize, after spending all that money,
not to cut its own throat.
Maybe they will expand their games. Not just the casino, but Adventure games.
STEAM is an example of different types of games being offered. They have been
getting into the HO's. But still offer a lot of Adventure and other type games.
I really hope this is for the good.
Anyway, the Grim Tales---I played the Bonus--not required for the main game.
What I found disappointing was that I didn't get the Achievement for not using
the Hint at all---yet my Hint and Skip was disabled.
I was hoping, like you dj--that the new Vampire game would come out.
Instead, Another Haunted Hall.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I'm in the middle of downloading the 500 games I have from Big Fish onto an external drive. The game manager can handle it, despite what people say.
I chose to have all my games - and reviews - here on the ground as well as 'in the cloud', after Game House twice removed games from within 2 year guarantee.
I got replacement games, but I had to demand to be put through to management that someone sat and listened. I hate Game House. I hate their support team, I hate their membership plans, and most of all, I hate their games. So many TM and M3 and none of my favourite games, by Eipix, Elephant, and ERS.
If the HOPAs as we know them disappear, I really will pack up and go - I have enough games now to play non-stop and still not repeat game for at least a year. Oh, I hate GHs forum too!

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Lol, luvtoread! Yeah, I believe you're right, I can't quit gaming because I'm addicted to it.
Good idea, Justie. I'd sure hate to lose all my games.
Now I know why the new DP didn't feel like a BT game. It isn't a BT game. Just in name only, I guess, as BT decided to end their involvement in the series. Which makes me and I feel like ...
Too many favorite developers are switching to different platforms leaving casual games in the wind. With all these fancy electronic gadgets coming out, I can only imagine what the market will be like in a few years. And we lose more developers every year to Esme's infamous (cash cow, lol).
I do feel like we're in the end times for casual games. The numbers are no longer there to support it. Probably for a myriad of reasons...economy, boredom, demographics, cost. As with any other older platform in the gaming industry, this phase is sadly over. (I still have my PS2 even though new games are not sold anymore for it. I hunt flea markets and yard sales for them)
I was hoping casual games could co-exist peacefully with iOS games and developers would continue creating them. But, I don't think it's gonna happen.
There are a few developers out there still cranking out the HOPAs (A heartfelt Thank You for that).
Though it may not be long before we are the forgotten.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
No Vampire Legends 2 this week...again!
I noticed it was another Haunted Halls.
There was an update for Psycho Train, so I've un/reinstalled and started over. It is a good game and I don't mind. Hopefully, I won't run into the "can't go back and pick up the kite piece" which if I knew I needed it (I didn't see it), I would've picked it up in the first place.
I have finished Silent Night: Children's Orchestra. I thought it was a good game, though I'm glad I got it on sale. I don't know what qualifies it as a CE. The puzzles were quite fun and I love this style of graphic. The HO scenes were varying.
The bonus is not needed for a satisfactory conclusion.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Yeah, I kind of don't trust them either and it's all because of how we were given the runaround when CCC was closed down.
It probably would've benefitted them to have just told the truth and said they were doing away with it rather than leading us on for all those months.
I do have an important question...if I would buy an external hard-drive to store my games on, would it only be compatible with my current computer?
Like, say my laptop died and I had to buy a new computer, will my games still play?
I thought I'd read that the external hard-drive wouldn't work with a different computer.
And I have until the end of the year (what, a little over a month?) to shop for and buy this drive, load my hundreds of games onto it and pretend I'm a computer tech?
I just don't see that happening with the holidays right around the corner.
I am NOT a happy camper right now with all this crap going on. I've got a lot of money invested in these games.

hi djrum
My external hard drive is compatible with my pc, but like any new gadget that comes out, you need to check system requirements - You know, memory size, speed and which operating system you have. I
The kind shop assistance helped me with getting it right. Then, talking me through the installation over the phone the next day!
And they gave me a new connecting cord for free, even though they knew it was the cats chewing it that shorted it out!
So I'd be listening to the ultimate nerd, advising people on the aspects of any computer-related gadget.

Wow, Justie. You really had a helpful assistant!
Nope, there isn't anyone around here who would do that. Maybe if I paid a computer-fixer and that's not an option for me unless they were actually fixing my computer, not removing stuff from one device onto another.
I'm on my own.
