When I was about 9yo, we visited our family in the northern Italian countryside and spent the summer there. One of my uncles had rabbit hutches out back with the most adorable family of rabbits, including several newborn babies. I'd spend hours every day, literally, cuddling and playing with those sweet friendly cuties. As a devoted animal lover I was in bunny heaven and thought: Best. Vacation. EVER! I'm sure you'll know where I'm going with this story but...did they HAVE to tell me what was for dinner one night - afterwards of course?!?! Adults can be so damn cruel or, at best, so insensitive!

Dj, so sorry!! What a thing to say to one's child!

I am surprised your stories didn't turn you into vegetarians!!!
At least when I ate venison, it was as an adult and I knew about it before hand.

I grew up on a farm. Y'all know where this was going... I had a pet cow; a pet pig; a pet rooster ... ... ...
Yup. I've been a vegetarian for over 20 years!

Okay, slightly off topic but...
I just started Nevertales: Beauty Within. Um... I have a feeling this game is going to make me very, very snarky (and probably want to punch an owl). Is it worth it? Some of the things on the game seem cool, like the phone for the map and task list, but the owl?

I've been a vegetarian since I was 8, so that's 32 years now!
I think the Nevertales CE was the best IHOG of 2013! I absolutely loved it

I have to say I'm enjoying Nevertales. Some things crack me up, like the voodoo lady who looks like Carla (Rhea Pearlman) from Cheers and the Astronaut of Epic Helplessness... but I really enjoyed the little song/prediction. How different and unexpected! Gears isn't as annoying as I thought he would be either.
Overall, I'm super happy with it!

No problem with that! It's only those who first registered THIS MONTH that aren't eligible! That's to make sure people don't create false accounts to get extra entries :D

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I'm still enjoying Nevertales. I'm glad I didn't stick with my first impression thanks to all of you. I disliked it at first, but now I'm enjoying it quite a bit.
(I should probably be done by now, but I was in a cooking mood today, so I made FOOD... now maybe I can get serious about finishing up the game. Couldn't play yesterday since our problem child, Penny Dog, managed to get bit/stung by something and we had to make an emergency trip to the vet's office. Cross your fingers that today is far less stressful for me! LOL)
Thanks!

Feels like good ole D&E has been very quiet for a long while! But, nup, is just me.
I haven't finished Nevertales. I actually found it very hard to play and just ran out of steam. Now, I will give it a rest and start from scratch again when sequel is released, I think.

Be sure to give a +1 to the person doing the giveaway! To do this, hover your mouse over their post, then click on the + sign in the top right corner.
If y'all want to know about these giveaways when they first come up, try making How does one make a gift? (aka "Gifting on GOG for dummies") a favorite topic by scrolling down to the bottom, and checking the box on the bottom right. This will pin the thread for you. I'll try to remember to announce the giveaways as they come up, but I'll do it in the GOG Forum / Trade Game Codes thread.

I do think it's been a bit quiet. I sort of feel like I've been ranting to myself (which is nothing new)!
I hope everyone is doing okay and is having a great weekend.
Say hi, even if you usually lurk... I can hear you breathing out there. LOL

Seems Eipix is coming out with a new one that looks totally spooky. Dead Reckoning (not sure of the rest of the title).

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I'm lurking. Though haven't played a casual game in a while as I'm playing an RPG which is taking up a lot of my time. I do like the spooky games though.
