Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
Hi there, Fairjuno! You should see all my unplayed games. I was buying like a crazy woman! Mention the word "Sale" and I'll find something. lol!
I heard that also, Genki. But my trust is gone & I'm not sure it'll ever come back with the recent goings-on over there. Too much was dumped on us all at once, I'm sorry to say.
Okay, I'll zip it now.

Thanks Genki! And thanks for the place for us all to hang out!
That's comforting to hear, though I do understand DJ's worries...what with the big surprise we all got last week.
Hi, DJ! Yes, I know what you mean...lol. Did you get anything this weekend? I ended up getting the new Echoes of the Past (bracing myself with Jeannie's warnings ) as well as Fear for sale: Nightmare Cinema. Not sure how I missed that one since it's been out for months, but I'm loving it. I can't seem to stop playing!

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
I am now working on the bonus in The Cobra's Eye, 5 days is how long it took me to finish the main game, no Hints & no Skips. I so enjoyed working the many puzzles in this game. They were just hard enough to not be able to breeze through them, but I also didn't have to skip any of them for being too hard. (gosh, did that last sentence even make sense?)
No bells & no whistles needed. This game relied on a good story-line and very good gameplay, IMO.

I got the new Echoes game, too! (this was before jeanniemouse's warning) I also purchased Nearwood.
I used some of my PCCs over the weekend, I can't remember what I used them for, though.
Fear For Sale: Nightmare Cinema was so good! It's staying on my computer because I will replay it.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
Thanks for the link! It must've taken a lot of time to put all of this together.
I just finished FFS and missed two beyond objects. So...of course I'm going to have to play that again ...lol! I agree, DJ...I think that game will be staying on my pc too. I haven't enjoyed a game that much in a long, long time. I don't have the other ones, but I might be interested now (even though I played the last one first...lol). Maybe something to use my PCCs on if I don't get the CEs.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
Oh man, I have a lot of games that are favorites and I'd like to keep on my computer but then it runs so s l o w l y. It aint the youngest computer either. So I keep them on BF, Amazon, GOG, and other devs and hope for the best. Of course, my problem with games from other devs and sites is that I can't remember what games and whom I bought from... Oh well.
Going through my list at BF I see so many games I either didn't finish or never started.
Seriously, I have no call buying anything else for a long while.

I don't know about anyone else, but Big Fish Casino showed up in my crappy new Game Manager without me downloading it & I'm quite PO'd.
I've tried putting it in the trash can, but I think I only hid it, nor can I uninstall from my "Uninstall Programs."
I did not give "Permission" for this game to be put in my crappy GM so I'm not sure how it could've got there.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
Dj, I was just reading about this on the BF forum. Wow, people are plenty pissed about it, and they should be! It's not showing up in mine (yet) but it's listed as the sole download option under "free games". Who asked for it?
People are so disgruntled at the forum and seem to be quitting left and right. I wonder... maybe getting some kind of external hard drive to download my games (not all of them - Big Fish can keep the many clunkers I've bought over the years) is a good idea after all? No idea how to do it, and anyway wouldn't we need the stupid game manager?
I have a few PCCs but I think it might be wise to reserve the majority of my spending $$ for Amazon and other sites. So unsure about what's happening at Big Fish and I'm sadly losing confidence. <smh>

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
I know I was a bit miffed to see BF Casino as the TGT today, but I didn't know about it automatically taking up residence in the GM That's just wrong! I don't think it's actually installed on your hard drive... aren't all of the F2P's streamed?
Yes, you need the GM to play the games, but you can install all of your games on an external drive if you set up the GM to save there and access there. You'll have to reinstall your GM to do it, and that's a pain, 'cause you'll have to manually find all of the already-installed game icons in order to play them. *sigh*
There is another way to back up your files, but I don't want to go there unless BF totally FUBAR's.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
What the heck! Looks like BFG is doing everything to get rid of old members! Does this casino thing actually install or is it just a streaming link? I'm afraid to open the GM.
I'm going to cancel my membership once I get the number of credits down to 2. Probably this Christmas, if there's another CE sale. It's such a pity, but I don't see BFG lasting long in PC business. I wonder whether enough people will play f2p to make up for the steady revenue of Game Club...

You know me, vervaine. I don't know nothin' bout computers. The casino game was right where all my games are located & had "Activate" where "Play" normally is. I wanted to check my Purchase History because for some reason, I can't access it from the My Account tab at their site.
I didn't even click to see what it was, I threw it in the trash can. I'm not sure if the game installed or not.
Oh, I was over at BFG & there are plenty of upset people there. I haven't checked fb yet as I have just now got back home.

Hmm, interesting. I just swung by there and the two 1-star ratings the Casino game had this morning are totally gone. Meanwhile the forum has locked threads talking about BFG employees being laid off, etc....
What IS going on there?!

Yikes - I opened my game manager and it's there, too, as one of my downloaded and ready-to-play games! WTH?
ETA - Their FB page is an utter mess with angry complaint after angry complaint. Apparently they closed their office in Cork and let a bunch of employees go, and I'm guessing this is just the beginning of 'those' kinds of changes.

I just went and looked at their FB feed. They have brought a complete sh@#-storm down upon themselves. (sorry for the swear... I usually don't, but this time it seemed appropriate. Forgive my potty mouth.) They deserve every single complaint they get and more. I've got one credit, and once I use it, I'm canceling my membership.
This time they've gone way too far.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
I'm not big on cursing, myself, but sometimes it's necessary to truly convey what I'm feeling. No worries, there's only one word I can think of that really bothers me (starts with a 'c'), and I can't imagine any of us using it.
So, what I'm saying is that "shit storm" seems highly appropriate at the moment! I really don't know what the hell Paul is thinking...
Back on the game front, though, I finally finished and reviewed Twin Vaccine last night. Not worth getting the CE, but definitely a great SE!

I am now the "proud" owner of BF Casino or whatever it is too! (And from the look of things, we will need LOTS of chocolate to wash people's mouths out with!)

From the article mentioned above, it would appear that Casino is Big Fish's signature game series now. Goodbye MCF?
ETA - And I just checked BF site again. It seems the Casino game forum - you know, the one with all the heavily "edited" customer complaints? - has been removed. No 1-star reviews up either. My, my.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
I noticed it's gone, too, R-Mom. I'm all for the "Stand By My Game Company" mentality, in times of trouble or change, but this is seriously bordering on the ridiculous.
The decisions made in the last month have been detrimental to this once great game company, shattering all the trust I've ever possessed with them.
I read the article, also. I can understand the direction the gaming community is headed, with the apps and the Android devices, etc. But I don't see why the PC/Mac players have to be shoved aside. Is there no room for a co-existence with neither side having to suffer?
I also have a hard time feeling sorry for a company whose revenue last year was over 200 million dollars.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
Have any of you noticed a notepad file that suddenly appears on your desktop called 'debug'? It's been reappearing on mine ever since I got the new BFGA and I didn't realize what the heck it was until today when I couldn't get rid of it. I just finally decided to read it again because the first time it just looked like a bunch of gibberish. It has something to do with an error in the BFGA. The only problem I've had with the BFGA is not being able to open it once in a whlie. Just wondering if it's only me. Add it to the list of other problems I've had since updating FF.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
Fairjuno, before CCC closed, I noticed people posting about this "debug" file appearing with the installation the crappy new GM. I don't know exactly what it is nor do I know if the problem was ever solved.
The debug file seems to show up whenever it wants.
I would assume (I say this loosely) BFG is working on the problems many people are still having with the crappy new GM.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread 1
Thanks, dj. I was just curious. At least I know what it is now. I had been doing my best to ignore it because I was afraid of what it might be...lol. Then today it finally mentioned something about BF when I tried to delete it. I sent them a message, but I don't expect much to come of it. I don't even care as long as the GA works. When I couldn't get it to open today, I thought I might have a panic attack...lol. I told my dh, I don't know what I would ever do without BF. Hopefully that's not something we'll really have to worry about.
