I can highly recommend True Fear (used to be known as Bad Omen), and Danse Macabre. Both excellent games.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Good morning all! Sorry that RL and illness have kept me away. Hope everyone's well! Don't know how you you balance playing games with stuff-to-do - or maybe it's just me? I'm a terrible time waster manager.
I'm getting True Fear of course (though I really preferred Bad Omen as a title ) but want to get another CE because..well, why not? But I need suggestions!
Danse Macabre looks good but I was dismayed by Esme's comments a few pages back. Not looking for a "romance" per se, esp not one with a wimpy female.
I still haven't bought the new Raincliff so that's the forerunner right now. Worth it? Different enough from the first one that it doesn't feel like a rehash or places and events?
I have the newest HE (haven't played it yet, of course). I dunno, not that much interests me right now. Did I miss something else?

Hi lackoo Yes, both Shiver and Agency of Anomalies are dark & eerie series. The weekend code, PLAY, for buy-one-get-one-for-$1.99 CE's IS still working
I'll leave someone else to give suggestions, since I've been concentrating on adventures lately

Sanitarium is 60% off at GOG, so it's only £4
VERY eerie game, that. One of my favourites.

I bought it from GOG... Four years ago! I still haven't played it! It's on my to-do-soon list, though!

And whose fault is it that I've gotten so into adventures?
Yeah, that's right... it's RMom's!

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I've had to stop playing True Fear because of a problem. I'm in a HO scene where I have to use a knife to open a can to get a rattle (last item) but I can't "get" the knife and nothing else works. ETA - Never mind, problem solved!!! All is well again.
Otherwise I'm really enjoying the game so far - great spooky ambiance! - but it's a little slow and glitchy here and there.

'cause I don't know if anyone actually reads the thread, here's the reason why the game companies are all jumping on the F2P bandwagon! Not Always (Blank) Websites <--click

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Oh I totally believe it! It's easy to carelessly spend a bundle, 99 cents at a time. There's no way F2P games would be so popular if they weren't racking up a fortune. Ironic isn't it.
I finished True Fear and have to admit I'm really disappointed by the (non)ending. And turning one game idea into a *trilogy* at CE prices? Cha-ching! (On another note, though it was well done I would've preferred a more original ghost/spectre as well. This isn't a Japanese movie, lol.)
ETA - Okay I've been playing the bonus which is definitely taking the action further and seems integral to the basic storyline. But I wonder, what if you bought the SE edition. Is this bonus chapter going to be included as part 2 of the trilogy so that everyone can catch up?

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I am playing True Fear & gosh, it's a very D&E game (IMO). I had a minor glitch in the basement & I was just getting ready to shut my eyes...I got the big freeze. I had to CAD to get out & when I came back in, it was fine (so far).
I finally made it to Act 2...(yeah, took me long enough).
Hi lackoo! *waving furiously*

I know Harvester is a black comedy (it is, right?) but I think it's a bit too dark for me.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I was reading about it, and it's the uncensored, full-of-gore version. Very nice that it's uncensored, but gore is generally not my kind of thing. If anyone gets it, I'll make a topic so you can post thoughts and/or a review.

Guess what? This weekend we switch to Daylight Savings Time! Hoo-ray. Note my abundance of joy at the prospect.
I sure don't mind gaining an hour in the fall, but losing an hour suuuucks! I had no idea it was THIS weekend until about two minutes ago!

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Am very glad to hear it! Means that games are released at 3pm instead of 4pm, my time, and that extra hour gives me time to finish the demo + review before my cats start hassling me for dinner!

LOL, JTF, do your clocks change as well? I thought most countries had eliminated this silly tradition. Personally I don't like the clocks moving in either direction. (Well the autumn's not too bad. )
