Aww, these past few months have been hard on our feline friends and their humans! :(  Another of my friends had troubles as well, with her cat breaking one of the Christmas tree's bubble lights (on Christmas Day, no less!), and eating some glass and the fluid from the light.  He eventually threw up the glass, but I just heard yesterday that he's going to have to see a specialist about some swallowing problems. *sigh*

A great big mental  Hug  for all of you. Offering

I am guessing note1 someone doesn't like her collar  note1 hee hee

Less than a day after Fiver's death (its been a week now), Schizi my other Houdini found a new place to dig under the fence, so we're at it again, the frustration and the worry. I found the first place she went digging, blocked it off, but she's found another that I just can't find!  Cry

I am gonna get a hefty labourer type in the fill anywhere not able to zap her with an electric shock with rubble, chicken mesh and pots of soil for plants. So I know for sure she's not able to get out ever again.

Anyway, what started me down that road was the collar. A cat of mine only has to wear one if she's escaping - Schizi 'lost' hers in less than a day! She's a little b*tch sometimes! And now the neightbours still have a reason to hate me.  meh

Hate to go on, but... I got a kitten.

After Fiver died, I felt I had to tell my neighbour who I like and respect a lot, but who didn't like Fiver coming into her yard, scaring her pet birds.

Anyway, 2 days later she came down and said she knew it couldn't replace Fiver, but her friend had a Ragdoll kitten! Only my all-time favourite breed until I heard about Bengals. They are medium haired fluffy and have been bred so that their inclination is to just flop into your lap, over your shoulder, anywhere they can. They're a VERY cuddly breed. So, I um'd and ah'd, and finally said I would take her for a trial, cause my cats are all so territorial and jealous.

Well, so far, all we've had is a lot of hissing and growling and a couple of swipes (without claws) and now Tobie (the Bengal, she is about the size of his head, honestly) let her eat her fill of his food (this is the one who is dieting!) before he ate the rest! Mind you, just so she knew who was boss, he growled and hissed the whole time lol.

Schizi and Jackie the really jealous ones have gone nose to nose with her (cat equivalent of shaking hands) and they've not been impressed, so they hissed at her too. Ninja won't even go into the room if the kitten is there!!

All of which is actually a pretty good start, though it doesn't sound like it. These cats are not your average cat who would normally adjust after a couple of days, but this is better than I expect.

Can you tell I haven't talked to anyone about her yet  Zip it

A Ragdoll!  My goodness!  And where are the pics, hmm?

I'm really glad that a kitten has come your way, Justie.  When Callie died it was so traumatic and painful that we didn't want another right away, but it quickly became apparent that we needed to re-think that.  Jasmine has been such a blessing, and I know I said this before, but, while having a new kitty does not fill the hole left by one that has passed, it surely helps the wounds heal faster!

Yes a Ragdoll! Amazing but true! And me never having the money to buy one! And that went for the Bengal too! Miser

She's already found 6 separate perches she can comfortably lie on me.  Big smile

I was thinking I wouldn't be up to a new kitten either, and I wondered why it is that getting a new one when you've just lost a special one still seems to make a positive addition.

I think, obviously, there's no 'replacing' but there is distraction away from your sorrow. You've got this little critter who is relying on you for food and shelter, and love. There's the other pets needing extra reassurance too. And there's a whole 'person' to get to know. There's no longer time to wallow in our grief.

Whatever, it works. I'm getting used to having her around. I do the other cats start to get used to her too. Wub

Pix when I get around to finding out to upload them from my tablet. Embarrassed

Justie...I am so happy for you adding a new RagDoll baby to your family!!!  So special!  Of course there is no "replacing", but any kitten needs love, a home & attention!  The others will adjust when they see it is around for the long run & will have fun with him/her eventually!  Just do as you said & keep giving the others lots of love & attention so they don't feel neglected!  I have done this MANY times!  I have a dark orange tabby who seems to be the ambassador to newbies & he feels like he is raising them...which he partly is...specially when I'm not at home!  Such a great feeling!

Luck to you on the baby...what's his/her name & yes on pics please!!!

Well, she's a she. The neighbour said she thought she should be called "Dolly", but sounded less than original, and then the kitten herself started to make me to consider it after all. For now I call her "Good Golly Miss Molly" (Golly or Molly and even occasionally "Dolly", for short.)

It is obvious she's been living in a good environment. She seems to know most things without being told. She is the most well-behaved cat I ever had. A few "NO! No keyboard" was all it took to get her to careful of where she puts her paws, and she will always go around if there is room.

Genki, love the videos of Jasmine, also the one of the two cats cuddling.  My Felicia is the Queen of the Castle, and poor Jessie gets the cold shoulder from her - they never cuddle, unfortunately.
