LOL Well, I am just easily bored in the kitchen, so I like to mix things up. Today I made a Chickpea, Cucumber, Feta and Dill salad for lunch this week and a Honey Cashew Chicken Stir Fry is prepped and ready to go for dinner.
I'm so tired of prepared, packaged foods. It feels good to make some real stuff. YUM!

LOL Luvto, I have some friends who do just that. They like to be my food testers.
So I started playing Haunted Hotel: Death Sentence. I'm guessing it's just a game version of "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie.
Drawn out to an isolated hotel. People with shady backgrounds who were never punished. Dead folks.
Feels familiar, no?

Oh good...I knew it would be you who also would comment on that.
I mentioned earlier about one "victim" who reminded me of AG Miss Marple story.
I actually enjoyed that game.
Looking forward to your posts on that.
I know you live in Michigan. You get lots of snow? Out here, they are going on about
a "horrific" blizzard that is going to hit the East Coast. 3 feet of dumped snow.
What makes it "horrific" is beyond me. Its not like Godzilla will be coming with it, ready
to stomp on NYC.
Snow in January. Who would've guessed?

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
"And Then There Were None" is a classic. If you're gonna steal a plot, at least steal a good one, right?
I'm only at dead body #3 right now. Or is it #4? Three reels, but four dead guys. I think. Not that it matters.
I'm enjoying it. No complaints so far.
I have a FB friend who was just talking about the storm headed to NY. I dubbed it Snow-perbole. The hyperbolic snowstorm. They act like it's not supposed to Snow. In. January. LOL
Though to be fair, that area has had a lot more than their fair share in recent history.

M'kay. I finished HH Death Sentence Mountain of Evil.
I'm just gonna go ahead and spoiler my questions here.
But other than that, it made perfect sense.
I'm just gonna go ahead and spoiler my questions here.
- Mmmmmmmmmmkay, I have questions.:
- So, what exactly did Detective Dreamy do wrong? And if it was wrong, why didn't James and my character talk about it? And what the heck is all that running around and burning ropes when we could have just knocked the crazy old lady out before she set the place on fire? We stood there like a couple of dopes while she cackled and poured the gas and set it on fire. And where did she get the can of gas anyway? Wasn't she just knocked out and handcuffed? People don't generally just slide right out of handcuffs do they? I don't have much experience with them, so I am just assuming here. And it kind of makes me happy that my detective seems to have a boyfriend in James, but holy cannoli, I solve all the mysteries, why does James get all the credit? Maybe I'm just humble like that. And am I a dude or a chick? I seem to have man hands. And why do I need gloves to pick up stuff when I'm already wearing gloves? And why do I need to make a crossbow to knock down a butterfly net to fish a chunk of whatnot out of the fishtank when there's clearly an umbrella leaning against the dresser? And why do I need a glass cutter when there are obviously large heavy things laying around that I could just chuck through the glass? Am I worried that the batsy broad is going to sue me? She tried to kill me and my boyfriend, James!!!!! Oh, and are you trying to tell me that a race car driver can't tell when he's getting into a fake car? GTFO!
But other than that, it made perfect sense.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I knew I could count on you.
Now, some things are in your spoiler that I myself have wondered about.
WHY DO WE NEED GLOVES FOR OUR GLOVED HANDS? Unless they are
pure Italian leather, or something.
Now, to somewhat comment on your spoiler---or go off on my own tangent...
There is a literary question I have for you:
I did all in all enjoy the game.

Now, to somewhat comment on your spoiler---or go off on my own tangent...
- because it is fun to do:
- James the Glory Hogging Detective was cleared of
perjury on a case and I guess that didn't go down so well with the nutso judge and
his demented wife. As for the crossbow, well, cause we think more of our abilities
than we should? The crossbow goes with our Manly hands? Work harder, not smarter?
I figured out what was happening faster than James did and he had been at that hotel
longer than me.
Then, you leave him with a simple job of watching over the handcuffed shriveled
whackjob and he cannot even do that right!!
Oh--I love the way he stands around while there are flames all around us waiting
for me to do the job of saving us.
There is a literary question I have for you:
- just because someone may want to play this game in the future, but I doubt they'll remember this:
- Did the woman in the bathtub's story bring to mind an Agatha Christie
Miss Marple story, that I have mentioned too many times?
I did all in all enjoy the game.

Italian leather? Say no more! It all makes sense now!
Was Detective Dreamy cleared? I guess I missed that. Too bad. I think my character likes a bit of a "bad boy"! (Okay, so I'm editorializing in my mind. It's my game; I'll play it the way I want! LOL)
As far as your question about Dame Agatha:
Tag, luvto. You're it!

- Not really a spoiler- just my probably misguided opinion:
- Seriously, this game has a sort of Brokeback Holy Mountain feel to it, that I LOVE!
As far as your question about Dame Agatha:
- Far too much about Dame Agatha's stories:
It sort of feels like Murder on the Orient Express meets And Then There Were None. ATTWN for the obvious reason that they stole the plot almost outright. MOTOE because the nanny was involved in the kidnapping, but everyone on the train was involved in trying to put the guilty party to death, not being punished for something horrible. But MOTOE is a Hercule Poirot story, not Miss Marple. Third Girl also features a dead nanny, but that is also Poirot and Aridane Oliver. Lots and lots of nannies kick the proverbial bucket in Dame Agatha's stories, so you may be thinking of one that I've forgotten. I always favored HP over Miss Marple. Love his "little grey cells" and mustache!
Tag, luvto. You're it!

I would be a food moocher, too, Esme! Please keep on posting your delicious looking recipes!
I can't cook like you do or else hubs would never eat. He's such a food snob and this is all I would hear, ew...what's that?
Is it supposed to look like that?
I can't taste anything.
Is this all we're having...a salad?
Geesh!
Oh my gosh, the snowstorm's been all over the news today. I feel sorry for the all the people who live in the northeast. They've had their fair share of mega-super snowstorms this season.
We just got a little bit of snow this morning.
I got the Frankenstein game today. I had some expiring PCCs and needed to use them up.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
dj, I know I lurk a lot but I thought I would let you know, I'm one of the ones in the middle of the snowstorm. South central MA here. The news about the storm is really getting annoying ( along with "deflate-gate" ). I've been through many storms ( Blizzard of "78 comes to mind) and this doesn't seem to be as bad as others. The worst part is the wind. My car is under a carport and is covered with snow. The snow is wicked light and the wind does create white out conditions at times. Thankfully they called off work
Being the hearty New Englander I am, I will go out later and do some shoveling.

Good grief--you would think that it had never snowed before. The area I live in is suppose
to get 2-4", but so far nothing but very cold weather and grey, gloomy, I- want- to- go
somewhere- warm -weather.
I agree--quite the kerfluffle about a pig-skin!
esme--I thought the one I mentioned about AG was a Miss Marple cause
the book I was thinking of was "The Tuesday Night Murders" where they would
talk about people they knew got away with murder.
I was thinking about the companion story.
You have set me straight, literary (yes, an awful pun on a word).
Yes, Detective Glory Hound was cleared.
dj---I am curious about the Frankenstein game. Let us know when you play.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
lol, I guess y'all are used to mega-super snowstorms. What I heard on the news was 2-3 feet of snow and 50-70 mph wind gusts creating blizzard conditions.
If we had that around here, this whole city would be in a level 4 snow emergency and proceed to shut-down.
Heck, we get 3 inches of snow and the schools close down.
We used to live in Montana (way back when). Wow, talk about cold weather... One year, I remember taking my sisters trick-or-treating on Halloween trudging through 2 feet of snow (and still snowing). Needless to say, we didn't stay out long.
As a kid, I could tolerate the cold better. As an adult, I just freeze my butt off!

We were fortunate here. Just got enough to make it a slight nusance (translation:
some people just can't drive). Other than that, no big deal. South and east
got it worse. I guess especially Long Island.
Good news is: Today, finally, no Gray Clouds.

Late breaking news from Big Fish - you've seen the changes, right?
Those who know BF know nilosh, know that she is now not reviewing, but she sent me an email...
I just tried today's NEW RELEASE, The Emptiness and if you are a fan of those classic excape room games, this one is great. I loved the sound effects, the spooky atmosphere and I am seriously stuck during the trial so I will definitely use one of my credits on this one. Gİve it a try and tell me what you think. Beware, there is a warning which I thought was just the right bait for me.
Now will visit the game forum to see if anyone can help me:))
First sign of excitement about a game I've seen from her in months.
Let me know what you think too - I need one more game for this month's punchcard credit.

No, it's out today, Justie, as a soft release! I'll make a topic in a moment
EDIT: The Emptiness What I don't know is if it's a hidden object game or an adventure! I'm guessing it's not a HOG, but if it is, I'll move it to the right section.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Hey there, Justie, glad you mentioned this game (The Emptiness). I saw it on YT the other day and was wondering if BF would get it. (BTW, I love Nilosh's reviews!)
I have demo'd The Emptiness and so far, it does look like an "escape the room" game. I'm not very good at these types of games and I do think I'll need paper and pencil when playing.
I did notice the "warning" and though I'm not that far into it, there were some scary moments.
I think a lot of patience will be needed (from me) in order to complete the game. There were no HO "lists" (that I ran into), but you do have to look for stuff, everywhere (and I mean everywhere), to advance. So, because of that, I think it plays kind of like an adventure-lite game.
I did not get wide-screen (bummer) and my "play" area is sort of smallish. Since I can see it, I don't think it'll be a problem.
I do have a PCC ready to expire in about 5 days, so I'm going to use it on this game next Monday. My curiosity is definitely piqued and I want to see if I can "escape" more rooms!
Hope I can get through it without pulling my hair out.
Oh, I almost forgot, it is a gigantic d/l file for a demo! It might've d/l'ed the entire game, IDK and won't know until I purchase it.
lol, I didn't notice any changes at BFG until today when I went to d/l The Emptiness. Everything still works okay and I'm glad of it!

Hi! Hope you're all well.
I've been trying to view game pages at BFG on and off all day, but everything is off to the right side. I couldn't download or buy anything if I tried. I even updated my browser to try and get it to display correctly. What's odd is that the forums pages are just fine and the BFG home page is normal. I'm not seeing this on any other site. Anyone else?

You don't see the Blue Play Now button on the left side under the name of the Game?
On the right side is the video of the game.
If those buttons aren't working (I know they are for me) you should contact BF.
Unless someone here can be a better help than me.

Okay, I just have to share. This is the first time an AGES that I don't have free game coupons to blow! And of course there are two games out that I would actually buy. LMBO!
I blew through a bunch of PPCs on holiday games for my mother, and now I don't have codes left!
You guys will have to tell me how the Frankenstein and the Emptiness games are and I'll live vicariously through you, because I refuse to use my GCCs on SE games.
Glad to see you stopping in to say hello, Lilac!
I'm not loving the new design at BF. It seems busy to me, but what do I know?
I'm still shocked that I enjoyed HH: Death Sentence as much as I did. I've never been a huge Dupin fan or any of the other game dudes, but Detective Dreamy is pretty cute. I just hope my character can keep him out of trouble!

Esme, I'm sure you'll have more pcc's before you know it! I used one to grab The Emptiness sight unseen. Hopefully it will play on my computer OK. lol~
I don't like the new look at BF, it just looks cluttered >_<
Which game character is the easiest on the eyes? I hear about Dupin all the time, but who else?
