Just a quick g'day to say hello everyone and thank you for the invitation to the site! :)I look forward to getting involved in various parts of this forum and wanted to say what a great collection of topics already from a quick perusal of the site. I'd write more as I'm prone to verbosity, but it is currently challenging after breaking my hand last night.

Thanks! It reflects my current two obsessions - cats (I have 5, they rule my RL), and dragons - to be found at the Dragon Cave (FREE) thread Here

My favourite topic for storytelling is Carl Jung's Theory of Synchronicity and your welcome has reminded me of that :)I'm also an Aussie, my partner and I have 4 cats(they too, rule our house, even with 3 dogs) and come from a long line of Dragons(Chinese horoscope) with myself, my mother and maternal grandfather all being Dragons
That game piqued my curiosity as one of the first threads I skimmed over on the site was about it.

Wow! That's kind of freaky! To have so much in common! Although am a Tiger in Chinese mythology, and the Dragon obsession is a recent game thing
Always pleased to see another Aussie face online! The rest of the world doesn't always get my humour quite the way I meant it!
I googled tarnicus expecting some historical reference, or possibly a character in a game series - instead I found you! So I guess I'll have to ask you directly, where your nick comes from

Hmm, am enjoying the article on synchronicity! Been a long long time since Jung was on my reading list! This intellectual exercise stuff could get as addictive as dragon games - nah! Ain't gonna happen lol. But it is interesting. I seem to find synchronicity around me all the time these days. At least, online.
It amazes me that out of all the millions of pieces of others that are floating around in cyberspace how often people with only an apparently single piece of themselves in common with another find a whole swag of similarities and 'coincidental' duplicates in their lives!
Fascinating. But I must admit, I'm not the intellectually rigorous person I once was...

I know what you mean regarding humour!
I'm sure you'll find all manner of craziness if you Google either of my 2 commonly used internet handles. Are they even referred to as a 'handle' anymore? They were in 1996 when I started using the internet!
Tarnicus was the name of my first proper character in the MMORPG Ultima Online, which I created in 2000. Er the name that is, not the game! One of my favourite movies at the time was Gladiator, and I wanted something Roman sounding and prefer to create my own rather than use another. So the inspiration was partly from Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russel Crowe's character in the movie) and from a bird(Tern) passing my way in game.
I am amazed how long it took for others to start using it, so most references on the net with that name are me

Ah! A good name with a good heritage! The whole issue of what to name things has been in the forefront of my mind today. I am trying to write an entire world into being - well, a continent anyway - for my dragons to inhabit. The game we are playing involves the breeding and collecting of 100s of dragons and we have the option to name them all and write a brief personal description for each.
It became apparent to me almost immediately that I'd go nuts if I didn't give it a structure to link them all to. So, when not stealing dragon eggs from their cave, I am trying to put together this little Chronicle about the place and the times they live in. Fun but much more difficult than I expected.
I have written semi-fiction before, including fantasy, but this one has no basis in reality at all except those dragons I already have and their breed characteristics....
Sorry, I just realized how much I am waffling!
Anyway, pop on over sometime if you feel like a little silliness. Or I'll catch you in the review sections, probably (my previous obsession).
Cheers

Yay~! Tarnicus is here~
Let's get the technical stuff out of the way, first:
Helpful Links and Forum Info
IMPORTANT: How to Disable Auto-Watching of Topics <--So that you don't get e-mailed every time someone responds in a thread you've posted in!
So, the only place on the 'net that I go by my full nick of GenkiColleen is GOG. Everywhere else I go by Genkicoll... Or you can just call me Genki, it's faster
If you have and problems or questions, just ask~ I'll be starting a group play-through of Memoria in mid-July (hopefully! *fingers crossed*) but anyone can start a group play if they so wish. Just check out the New Group Play Proposals thread to set one up yourself.
Once again, to GGG~!

Ah sou desu ne
Thanks for the links, and it is ironic that you mentioned turning off email notifications, as I swore I didn't do that and only just checked the site again to find more replies!
My hand is healing well, I can type almost at full speed when it is supported with a bandage and glove(no splint or cast was required as the fractures weren't displaced).
Given I've finally deleted Facebook as I had been meaning to do for some time, I can focus my online social activity to more specific interests without being so easily distracted The last thing I did before deleting my account was to take one of those silly quizzes that tells you which type of mythical creature you are, and in honour of my lineage and this thread, I was told that I was a Dragon

Thanks to those who complimented me on the name but I cannot take credit for the avatar and wish I could credit and thank the source. It was sent to me by a friend who thought it was very representative of the inner me so to speak and my relationship with Crow

Thanks for the offer "My brain is full" right now and I'm in the process of emptying it a little after a hectic week. That means I won't be adding anything new just yet, but I will take a look at the Dragon Cave game when it is a little emptier

Draco willing, Lady Tarnicus,
Thy mind be soon free of all that vexeth thee.
Awaiting the pleasure of thy beauteous self ..
And,
dragons are forever ..
as is the invitation ..
bowing deeply as leaves the room
