    IN BRIEF***

    BASED ON DEMO

Very similar to the other recently released Cateia game, Tales Of The Dragon Mountains 2: The Lair. But a strictly ADVENTURE LITE game. No HOPs at all.

10 Mini-games, according to the statistics page, but I think that is just in the demo. There will be more in the full game. Because, there seemed to be an awful lot of puzzles  pullhair . I found them a bit too hard and at times too confusing for my taste. The instructions are sometimes just not clear enough. At others, a simple and familiar game is transformed into something I can’t do at all by an extra layer to it.

Mostly, though, the game is adventure, not too difficult.

The journal has useful info. It also has a section for achievements, game statistics (including things like how many puzzles you have completed from the total, and a game timer), and a help section.

There is a symbol of walking feet on the right of the (lockable) inventory bar, which toggles exit indicators. Hint is directional.

Good 3D graphics, very well done of their type, but I dislike the look. Bright and colourful, cleverly done. The people are well drawn, and I liked the art style (just not the 3D aspect).

There is a LOT of chatter, and it is all very well acted.

The story is not ‘told’, it is simply experienced. You are somewhere tropical (later, we find it’s on the Amazon River) when the area is set on fire. We collect our things and skedaddle by air. From take off to, um, landing, the cut scene is very good. On the ground once more, we must survive in the jungle until we can find civilization.

What we find instead is snakes longer than you are, piranhas, and human sacrifice!

There are achievements and collectible skulls (21).

Looked okay, but I couldn’t work up much excitement. (I’ve said that a lot lately, so maybe it’s me). If you are into the puzzles, you might get a kick out of it. The 3D graphics probably put me off it more than anything.

Sitting on the fence for this one.

I'm sure genki's on top of it, but Legacy have this one out for $2.99 today.

Also, I had a friend who likes this style of game who absolutely raved about it, so you might want to consider it even though I'm luke warm about it.

    Black Rainbow Empty Awesome game!

Post by sassylassie Sat May 03, 2014 6:14 am

I loved everything about this game.  (Played the full version).  I even wrote Cateia and told them I would love to see a sequel.  The VO's in the game were done to a tee and fit the characters perfectly.  The game itself took me a day and a half to finish.  Awesome length.  This to me was one of the best game Cateia has put out.

Story:  Your main character is named Helen and the Dark Warriors (who are under an evil spell) attack her village and totally set aflame.  You grab as much as you can then fuel up your plane and take off.  In flight you run into a storm and your plane is struck by lightning and you lose control of your plane and it crashes on an island.  The first local she encounters tells her that she is the 'chosen one' and that only she can restore balance to the world.

Game Play:  Yes this is a true adventure.  But say you needed a particular item.  You click on that item and circles appear around it and you take things out of your inventory and put them in the circles to take the said item.  H0GS have this too.  You talk to the locals and they send you on quests to get special items.  Or if they are sick, you get them medicines.  You go to many many places.

Mini Games:  Totally fun and original.  Made for the game.  I will be honest as I skipped two of them out of the whole game.  The instructions for the mini games were very clear and easy to understand.

Hint System:  One of the best I have seen in a game.  It teleports you to where you need to go and also if you are stuck on what item to use, hit the hint and it will show you what item you need from your inventory to use by sticking it to the cursor.

Map:  It is a jump map with the indicator points telling you that there is something to do there.  The map takes you to exactly the point you need to be at, not just close to it.  Fantastically done.

Music:  Fits the game beautifully.  If you at a tribe scene you have tribe music etc...

Graphics:  I have a HD monitor and a high end computer so the graphics for me were brilliant.

I totally recommend this game.  One of the best I've played in a long time.

    Welcome!  Sassie!

Everybody, this is another excellent reviewer (who some of you will know) who's been missing the beta threads - as you can read, she has a slightly different take on most games from me, and I'm stoked that she took up the invite to check us out!

Black Rainbow Empty Thank you so much Just :)

Thank you for such a warm welcome.  You rock!  Big smile I sometimes have a different outlook from Just.  But her reviews one rock and two is the first one I read before I start any game.  I love her reviews.  I love how she gives full details on the game and that I have the heads up on what my character is going to be getting into.  Again thanks Just  Big smile
