Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Header_292x136

Guide two brothers on an epic fairy tale journey from visionary Swedish film director, Josef Fares and top-tier developer Starbreeze Studios.

Control both brothers at once as you experience co-op play in single player mode, like never before.

Solve puzzles, explore the varied locations and fight boss battles, controlling one brother with each thumbstick.

A man, clinging to life. His two sons, desperate to cure their ailing father, are left with but one option. They must set out upon a journey to find and bring back the "Water of Life" as they come to rely on one another to survive. One must be strong where the other is weak, brave where the other is fearful, they must be... Brothers.

This is one journey you will never forget.

    • Concurrent Gameplay – control the two brothers independently on one controller
    • Puzzle and challenges for 2 – using unique qualities of big and little brothers (strength/size/speed etc)
    • The Brothers – unique abilities and can achieve more together than they can individually.
    • Game Director, Josef Fares – Established film director with a passion for Brothers.
    • Narrative above the ordinary – an emotional story told without words.

From The Best Adventure Games of 2013:

    Publisher: 505 Games
    Release: September 3

Starbreeze, well known for their ultra-violent shooter fare, are holstering their guns for this moving tale set within a mountainous medieval world. There’s not a gory QTE execution to be found anywhere within the 3-4 hours of the downloadable adventure, which instead focuses on the interlocking abilities of two brothers as they search the land for a cure for their dying father. The quest, designed to evoke emotions than test abilities, is framed by a collaboration with movie director Josef Fares – and its various puzzling encounters can be solved in distinct ways by each of the brothers. Saying much more would be to undermine its emotional heft, but this could easily shape up to be one of the indie darlings of 2013.

Ahhh, now I want it even more!  But where's my controller, and will it work?  Hmm...

Overreaction  On sale for $4.99 at Steam through 10AM PST tomorrow.

I had to have it.  I've reallllly been wanting this one.  I know I won't get to play it for at LEAST three months, but I really really wanted it, and $4.99 is likely the lowest price I'm going to see before Christmas!

I have the needed controller on my birthday wishlist, which by coincidence, is right before our move!

    REVIEW IN PROGRESS

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (Platformer/Adventure)
This game requires a controller to play

Options include sliders for Gamma (brightness), Music, and Sound Effects.  Entering the game via the "Play Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons" button, the game automatically adjusted for my widescreen monitor, but if you choose the "Brothers Launcher," you'll have a choice for Resolution.  Also on this page is a way to re-map the keyboard controls, so maybe a controller isn't necessary, after all? Huh?  (I'd still highly recommend one!)

I was confused to hear another language, went out and checked that the game was set for English, asked friends how to change the language... Only to learn that the dialogue in the game is in a made-up language. D\\'oh!

The first thing I noticed is the intro music, which is absolutely gorgeous.

I bought a generic XBox controller several years ago for around $25.  I like the feel of my XBox one better, but it was cheap and does what I need it to do!
