I'm not loving Sable Maze: 12 Fears. It's rather dumb, to be honest.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
esme- I am rather in agreement with you. Altho the slight twist in the story line
is slightly interesting, having to save the daughter over and over cause she just
won't listen is tedious.
I enjoyed the other Sable Mazes, but this one I am sorry I bothered buying. I will finish
it just because I won't waste my money and I am curious about the Brother and Sister thing.
I abandoned it to play DP: The Purple Water Mermaids and I just loved it. I have the CE,
and found the Felix's, the tea, most of the parables (I am on the Bonus).
I do not have the Rapunzel or the Cinderella ones and I am seriously thinking of getting
them. I remember you did like them.

I don't think I can finish 12 Fears. I'm only on Fear 3, Amber's a brat, Dad is a doofus, and the game is boring.
Other than that, it's great.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I have to go through one more fear-thank goodness they are lumped into 3's.
But this last one just made me want to smack that brat. First she whines cause she
needs saving, then she gives attitude.
I wish there was an option to tell her to go save her obnoxious self
I finished the main game. Daughter says Dad is awesome (ending was rather lame, not awesome).
I go to Bonus game (maybe that is where she actually compliments him?).
Anyway, I will not be playing Bonus. I am done. It is just more of the same and I
am too tired to care.

I decided to play Beauty and the Beast Go to the Circus... Dark Romance something-or-other. It's already more interesting than Sable Daze: 12 Drears.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I was over at the Pond and scrolling through the "What are you playing?" thread and a game
was mentioned that I missed, somehow.
The Mystery of a Lost Planet is a light Adventure Game.
There are 3 settings, Casual, Expert and Hard. To torture myself, I picked Hard.
On that setting there is someone extra you meet at the end.
I have an expiring pcc, so now I have a game to use it on.
I will have time to play because school is winding down and so is work. Meanwhile,
the temps have dropped and it is raining.
I go to the local library to sit and play.
Off to work I go. Hope everyone has a good day.

Okay, I played the main part of Beauty and the Beast Go to the Circus, and it was pleasantly dumb. I liked switching between the two characters. I'm not even going to gripe about the two falling in love even though they never really meet and basically only communicate between enchanted servants, but..........................
The bonus section?
That baby?
Chewbacclet?

Chewbacclet? Did you come up with that or is that what the game calls him/her?
I am finally playing DP: The Final Cinderella. One of my pet peeves in games:
Someone tells us what we should be doing and, of course, we do it. After all, we are the
Great Detective.
Then, after we do all this stuff while the other person just stands there and magically comes up
with some thingamabob that we could use, we just stupidly hand over the most important thing
that we should be hanging on to--cause they said so.
Meanwhile, I am saying: This is NOT a good idea, dummy!
Then, of course, they knock us out.
EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!
DP games should appreciate my loyalty to them. But they have got to knock it off
with this predictability.
Our know it all Detective needs a way to prove the Pinnochio is lying!!!
Didn't see the nose growth at all.

But gee.... if I didn't do exactly what people told me to in a game, I might solve it right away thus depriving me of having to run around like an idiot for things that I don't need to perform useless tasks!

I'm curious. Have any of you played I Know a Tale? It appears to be one of those love/hate games on BF. I'm downloading the demo because I generally like the games that tick off the pond people.
I hope some people stop in to say hello. It's been sort of quiet around here other than my babbling and luvto's comments!

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Okay, I finished the demo of I Know a Tale.
Cons:
Horribly translated English
Helpless Hint Button
Cheeseball acting
Pros:
I think it's a rather new developer.
Interesting in a way I can't quite describe. I used a PCC just so I can see how it ends.
It's not a good game, but it doesn't have that "slick" feeling that so many games seem to have now. I liked it in spite of myself. That may change after I finish the game, but I don't think I'll regret blowing a spare PCC on it.

I started the demo for I Know A Tale, but never finished it, got side tracked. Will have to
check it out again, I know I have an expiring pcc. I rather enjoy cheeseball acting in these
games.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
It has all the pitfalls of the games with translation issues, but I ended up liking it anyway.
And if you buy it, near the end, you'll be looking for a starfish
Like I said, there are other, "better" games that I could probably have gotten, but this one made me laugh at its awesome badness!

- a little help from a friend:
- it's over in the corner by the crystal... you can't really see it, but click on the left side of the crystal. It's there

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Hello, Everyone,
I haven't been around. We've suffered a tragic loss and are still dealing with everything. My husband's Mother passed away from injuries she received in a horrible fire at her home.
We don't know exactly what happened, but due to the origin of the fire and the damage that was done, the fire investigator concluded she had a lighted cigarette and had fallen asleep.
I've been playing a few games. I've always felt these casual games do help relieve stress for a bit every day when you can find the time to play.
I don't play for a history lesson. I could care less about inaccuracies in time periods. I play for pure enjoyment only.
With that being said...

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I have finished Myths of the World: The Heart of Desolation and I thought it was a beautiful game. Engrossing storyline, detailed and simply gorgeous graphics, music befitting the Asian setting of the game.
It was a total delight to play, I enjoyed every minute of it and didn't want to see it end.
Great job, Eipix! (It immediately went into My Favs folder)
I bought New York Mysteries 2. I demo'd long enough to make sure it worked before purchasing. I'm a huge fan of Five-BN (the developer) and will buy any game they release.
Because of the great sales at BFG, I've added quite a few games to my stockpiled list.
I'm playing the new Surface game now. Well, it started off sort of scary and now, I don't know where the storyline is headed.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Thank you, Esme and luvtoread.
My husband is holding up well although he does have his moments when he breaks down. It's hard on him and his brother as they've lost both parents tragically.
And yes, thank goodness for games!
We still have things to take care of and I'll stop in here as often as I can. It took me a little time to process everything and tell you all what happened.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
dj-I cannot imagine what they are going through. All you can do is take it one day at a time.
A cliche, I know, but so true.
Well, I went back to playing "I know a Tale." I have to laugh, like esme said,
hammy acting, voice overs do not match with the lip moving and I was just told "Oh, I have
to save the girl until the car fell off the cliff"
I think I will be getting this game.
I finished up Cadenza: Kiss of Death. At first, it didn't grab me, but then I really got into
playing it and the story and really enjoyed it. The Bonus is not necessary, but I still enjoyed
it as it took an interesting twist.

OMG it's hammier than a pot of split pea soup, which is why it was awesome!!!
All the text is bizarre and only sort of right, which also makes it awesome.
It was so very dumb, and it charmed the heck out of me.
Check in when you can, DJ. You know we're always here, and I'm usually up to something foolish to take you mind off things if need be.

I'm playing Brassfield Manor... it's actually pretty good. How did I miss this one before?? Or is it newer than I thought?
It says it's a sequel. Does anyone know what the first game is? It feels familiar, but I don't know why.

Training at the new job is going GREAT, though I'm spending about 3 hours on the road a day. I'm super-tired, but happy ^__^ I'll get caught up on the releases -- probably this weekend.
By the way, the Steam Summer Sale is supposed to start tomorrow~!
Esme, try THIS thread -- it should have the series info you're looking for at the top.

I really enjoy those Dead Reckoning games, has the old time feel to them. esme--the one your playing, does it have a maid who looks and dresses nothing like a maid?
STEAM sales start tomorrow? Good thing I am paying off my credit card, make room for more
games that will take me forever to finally play!

I'm glad to hear the training is going well. It's always a challenge when you start something new. You need time to learn, but you also want to be getting things done too. I'm happy you are enjoying it even though there is lots of traveling!
You know, I don't think I played the first one in this series. I'll have to check my purchase history, but it doesn't sound familiar. There's no maid in this one, but there is a fairly useless butler AND a mentalist. LOL! It's a hoot!
