Just went to buy this with a pcc, and  EEK!  It's not even listed in search! Finally found my way there via the above link, and the game is no longer for sale through BFG!! EEK!

And when I clicked for more Playfirst games, that just went to main web page! My, some games are getting old when they start doing that!

Hey Justie - Methinks BFG is losing its contracts with some of these developers...for what reason, however, I do not know.  Are the developers better at selling through their own portals (Hello Playrix.)  Or is BFG going in a "new direction" yet again and does not see renewing their contracts worthwhile?

(Another example of BF's less-than-premier status is Alawar giving stripped down CEs to BF and keeping the "exclusive CE content" just for their portal).

This does not bode well for folks with large game libraries who haven't downloaded all their games ... nor does it make me feel confident keeping my club status.  GOG is really forthcoming when they are losing rights to a game.  BF just hopes people don't notice ...

Don't get me wrong.  I still like BF ... I'm just practical about my gaming dollars and willing to give them to other sites a lot more than I used to be.

With you all the way pippi!

I ALWAYS keep all my games downloaded, because I have got caught with GH not sticking to their guarantee of 2 years protection, among other reasons.  meh

I just finished doing that a few weeks ago, when my suicidal kitten destroyed the external drive I loaded them to. I'm not going to feel secure until I get them all down again. But have to get another $100 together for the drive! That cat, just as well he has 9 lives!  Mouse pbbt

Fwiw BF has always maintained that once you buy a game from them you can download it forever. I own Murder Island and just downloaded it to see and it's working fine.

Wow, I have games from BF, GOG, Amazon and other sites and only ever download 1 or 2 games at a time and then delete them when I'm done. So far so good, but I've never dealt with GH. Hopefully they were the exception..?

Well, that's welcome news, because at GH, they simply remove the game's download link, and then you have to fight with them about replacement games. Last time they did it to me, took me a month of pestering emails for them to give me coupons to games they guaranteed would be there and weren't. Still, I don't expect better from GH. I am glad BFG are maintaining the standard I expect from them..

    Thanks RMom  Big smile

I don't know how it would be for other portals. I have only recently started buying from those others you mentioned. I feel fairly confident about most of them, because they're big enough for it to affect a lot of buyers if they reneged. Small outfits, dodgy I reckon.

That's good to know, RMom.  I lost a few BFG because they were not upgraded for compatibility to new OS and BF didn't care.  (I didn't care enough to be upset.  <---- Further proof that my game purchase decisions are sometimes questionable.   Suspect )

Justie, the same thing happened to a friend of mine with iWin.  There was a huge hullaballoo ... I think EA owns iWin now or they just divested iWin or something ... anyway, a whole boatload of games went away and the people who already owned them cannot download them again.

It's smart to always keep a copy of the games downloaded.  I just need to find the time to do that on an external drive.
