Neat, I hope you enjoy it!
I've been trying to decide what to say about this, for I want to be REALLY careful not to spoil anything! I knew nothing about the show when I watched it, save for the simple synopsis given in the first post. To say that it was a bit weird would be fair
Like in
The Wizard of Oz that we all know so well,
Oz the Great and Powerful starts out in black and white, then moves to color later, a symbolic move that works just as well with this one as it did in the original.
I mentioned that this movie is like a cross between
The Wizard of Oz and
Alice in Wonderland, and I still feel that way... throw in a little bit of the campy action from
Army of Darkness (Bruce Campbell even has a bit part in this!) and you'll have a more accurate idea of what
Oz the Great and Powerful feels like.
I had wondered about Mila Kunis being in this, but it turns out that the show was beautifully cast. There was no sign of Jackie (her character in
That 70's Show) and I was amazed by both her acting and the way she ties in to
The Wizard of Oz. It's strange, it's funny, a little campy, and well worth watching.
