Just, you need their downloader/app to download the game. I downloaded it but like a lot of others, it won't play. I'm hoping they find out what is happening. Changing the compatibility doesn't do anything.

Dang! I missed that bargain! It's £19.95 on GamersGate now.

Dayam! It must be a regional thing, 'cause it's still $2.02 here in the US!

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I just had to share with you guys!
Today Hubs and I took a small day trip the Mansfield Reformatory, which is where the film The Shawshank Redemption was filmed. It's this creepy old prison that is open now for tours and visitors. It is rusty, musty, peeling and some say haunted.
About an hour and a half into the tour, I looked at my husband and said, "You know what, hon? I feel like I am walking around and living in one of the games I play! I should be looking fro junkpiles and sparkles!" It was too funny and I tell you what, if a developer ever based a game on Mansfield, I would totally buy it............. and play it in the daylight! LOL

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
lol, Esme! Sounds scary & fun at the same time! I would definitely buy the game, too!
I have finished a total of 2 games in the last 2 weeks. The first one was DP: The Ballad of Rapunzel which I thought was a very good game (as usual from these devs). It took me over a week because I just couldn't see the fragments & refused to ask for a hint. My only gripe would be...I wished there was more of a variety of puzzles.
The second game was The Other Side: Tower of Souls. I loved this game! Okay, so the storyline proceeded to go "way out there" but I must commend the devs on the gameplay and our "sidekick." Normally, I'm not such a fan of furry sidekicks, but this one was a hoot!!
Esme, I highly recommend you playing it. You'll definitely get a laugh or two.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
dj---I felt the same way about the new HE. I really enjoyed it, but the HO's were
a PITA!! I was upset when I had to use a hint at one point. The object had something
to do with time passing. I desperately clicked onto an hourglass, then anything else.
The object the hint pointed me to looked like a ceramic green apple shaped cookie
holder!! (That particular HO was in the kitchen. I remember because I was in there
for a very long time!!)
I finished the demo of Beyond the Unknown. Definite buy for me, just need something
to pair it with.
Also, Dead Reckoning is very good. Old fashioned Film Noir game and figuring out who
the guilty party is. They are all guilty of something. For Instance: That maid who definitely would fit in to Devious Maids TV Show.
If you haven't tried it, I would highly recommend checking it out.
genki---I will let you know......hopefully I will play it within this year...

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Oh gosh, luvtoread, I don't like it when HO scenes are a PITA. I have the new HE & I think I'm going to play it next.
I also have Dead Reckoning.
I tried Lost Legends today, but I just couldn't get into playing it. I'll probably change my mind later on and end up getting it. Right now, I need 1 more game for a completed PC & I'll look for one Monday. Hope I can find one.
I think I beta tested Beyond the Unknown. It was a different title then, maybe The Golden something. I remember I did enjoy it.

DJ, this place is in Ohio. You should check it out! Hubs and I drove down from Detroit and thought it was really interesting!
Along with Shawshank, the movies Air Force One and Tango and Cash also filmed some stuff there. They also do ghost tours at night and have a Halloween Ghosty Thingy too.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Did you have to dig around to find the keys while the tour guide just stood around?
I have seen those movies (Tango and Cash a few times....I have a thing for the
Italian Stallion... ).
Your first picture....do they have arms reach out and grab you during the ghost tours?
How long did it take for you to drive down there?

Wow, I can really imagine creeping around there in the dark, getting spooked by ghosts, and searching in piles of things, trying to break an ancient curse.
Did anyone get swallowed up into the walls?

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Luvto, from Detroit it took a little over three hours to get there.
There were not really any tour guides. It was a self-guided type of thing, and you could get an audio tour to go along with it if you chose to. Hubs and I did not. There was enough to read and see on our own. The ghost tours are different and happen only on occasion and at night.
As far as ams reaching out, no. But you can walk down the row like the scene in the movie you are referring to. One of the kiosks explains that those arms were all local extras who waited in those cells for HOURS to do that scene. I would NOT have wanted to do that. Too creepy.
Frodo, it was really weird. I kept feeling like the whole thing was so familiar when it hit me. The place felt like a game! LOL Fortunately I did not have to dig for keys though.

LOL you were not in your capacity of Master Detective. Very interesting stuff and no, I wouldn't have wanted to be an "arms" person either. Both too creepy and (the waiting for hours part) too boring!Esme wrote:Fortunately I did not have to dig for keys though.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Maybe I missed it on this thread but I don't recall comments about Nevertales: Shattered Image. Worth getting?
So far I like The Other Side and am working on demos of Dead Reckoning and Weeping Woman. I hadn't touched Beyond the Unknown because, well, it's ERS. Maybe I should give it a try after all.

I haven't played the new Nevertales. Didn't buy it either. The reviews on BF said it had gone fairytale cutesy.
At least I think that's the game they were talking about.
I hope someone on here has played it and can advise us because I did like the earlier Nevertales games.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Thank you Justie!!!
I am really enjoying Dead Reckoning...I guess detective mysteries are my thing, game-wise. Which makes sense given my Nancy Drew, um, obsession. But as much as I enjoy a good sci-fi/fantasy romp I'm finding it a PLEASURE to get away from fairy tales. I haven't even considered the newest Dark Parables - I really disliked the last one.

Just looked at the page. Did anyone see the review that begged everyone to please not give poor ratings to games they didn't like?Esme wrote:Oops. It was Sable Maze that I was thinking about. (Did anyone review that one?)
"Do any of you that rate 1 or 2's for games that are not your "thing" really think that is fair to the Developers or the other players that do not share your love of your genre to not only rate so low but to bash the entire game?"
Umm, isn't that the point of reviews? Or are they mean to just be praises? Don't detractors have the right to try and steer devs toward their own interests? And why even care if others don't agree with you. Geez, someone needs a life beyond Big Fish.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
About half the pond needs a life outside Big Fish!
But I get the point I think that person must have been making. I am a HOPA fan, and can review any HOPA game in the full confidence that my reactions are a valid assessment of the game.
But when I review, say, a time management game, I do not expect to see those things I expect in a HOPA, and I take into account that there are different scales against which these games should be measured. e.g. timed vs. timeless option. I do not complain that there are no HOPs.
It is quite possible for me to appreciate a game, even while not being able to enjoy it - or sometimes even play - myself. I certainly wouldn't rate it poorly just because it wasn't my preferred genre.
Many do exactly that though, and annoy the bejezes out of me. The arrogance! That only their preferences have validity!
As you can see, I have issues with those reviewers lol
