I wanted to let everyone know that I'm working on getting the Stephanie Plum discussion copied to move over here. I don't want to lose that one.

I was talking to someone in shout the other day and they recommended these books to me. I can not, for the life of me, remember who it was, but I wanted to say thank you. I checked the first six out of the library and have been giggling my way through the first one since than. I also wanted to let anyone who likes these books know that I received an email today from Borders offering the pre-order of the next book in the series and wanted to give a heads up.

I have read one through about fourteen, I think, and a few of the "in between" books. They are soooo funny, but they were starting to get formulaic to me. Still, one of my all-time favorite scenes is the one with Grandma Mazur and the roast chicken. That made me laugh so hard I couldn't breathe. Sally Sweet is pretty awesome too.

But the question is: Joe or Ranger????

I loved these books and I am normally a thriller or terror reader. Last year's hard back from what I understand was a real let down(#15???) She comes out with a new one every June. (I'd "date" Ranger myself!!!!) Favorite moments? Granny "Viewing" in funeral parlors, Stephanie and Lula going down freeeway with dead body's foot hanging out of Lula's Firebird trunk, tasers, nailing Joyce, etc. etc. etc!!!

Wait, you guys are way ahead of me. I haven't even finished the first book yet, lol. I did laugh so hard I had to stop reading and catch my breath with the Grandma and the chicken scene though. Once I get through the books a little farther I'll be able to keep up with you all.

Oh and thanks again Kac. I am really enjoying them. I've talked to so many people about books though that I just wasn't sure who had told me.

Have you found out about Stephanie's special way with cars yet?

Except for Uncle Sandor's Buick, that is.

You are going to love this series! I was so happy after I read the first one, that I got on e-bay and found someone that was selling the whole series. I read them one after the other until I was done, that was a couple of years ago, so now I impatiently wait for each new book as it is released.

RANGER is the guy for me

I got through the second book today and started on the third, but haven't really come across the Ranger of Morelli thing yet. I assume that conflict comes up later on. Still not sure what the special talent with cars is other than she has some really bad luck with them. I've got book 4, 5, and 6 too. The library has the rest of the series, so I'll be able to finish it.

OMG! I love Grandma Mazur. I just thought I'd pop in with that update. I'm 148 pages into book three and really enjoying the series. At this rate I'm going to have to go back to the library this weekend and get out some more books.

Read the freeway scene last night. Laughed so hard I had to put the book down to catch my breath and wipe the tears from my eyes. I'm really enjoying these books.

I have the one coming out on reserve at my library. I admit the one before this one was not as good as the earlier ones. I would imagine that it is hard to keep coming up with new things since she is up to 17 books. Janet Evanovich writes some other series of books as well, but I've heard they are not as good as the Stephanie Plum ones.

I LOVE this series as well. It is fun to read, but you really need to listen to an audio version. I have almost wrecked my car several times laughing. The reader really puts emphasis on Ranger's name.....adds to the mystique!

She's got a new series called Diesel & Tucker. I'm going to check it out as soon as the book comes back to the library. I'll let you know. I know she has some romance books both written on her own and with other authors. She has a website at www.evanovich.com.

So, I'm heading back to the library tomorrow. They have all the way up to Fearless Fourteen available. Finger Lickin' Fifteen was due to be returned today and they have Sizzling Sixteen available as well. With any luck I'll have all of the remaining books by tomorrow evening and will be able to work my way through them over the next week or two. I'm about 55 pages away from the end of the number 4 and have been laughing pretty steadily all day. Particularly at the rumors of pregnancy and the Morelli family.

I didn't really enjoy the other series much. It just didn't have that same "spark" as the Plum books. Granted, I didn't try many since I didn't get into the one I read, so perhaps they get better.

@GIs... yes, getting her cars blown up was what I meant. I was trying not to give anything away before you read more of the books.

I'm still not entirely decided on which side I'm on. The Army wife in me goes for Ranger, but I'm just not sure with the Morelli history. I think I have to read a few more books before I make my decision.

OP, I'm liking Ranger more and more and Morelli less and less. I don't think Ranger would have any commitment issues if it came to marriage like Morelli does, but than I haven't finished all the books. I'm on book 6 now, the one where Ranger goes to her for survellience help after he gets set up (at least I think he was set up. I haven't gotten to the end yet) for murder. I think that shows a level of trust that Morelli doesn't show. Just my opinion on things though.

Most people I know who've read the book like Ranger more. Ranger is the loner type and not too keen on marriage yet he is always there for her, always watching out for her and is the one who saves her butt time and time again. I wouldn't mind him in my court. (In more ways than one )
