Ominous Tales: The Forsaken Isle Ominous-tales-the-forsaken-isle_feature

There’s an island 30 miles off the coast of England that the locals call 'The Forsaken Isle'. The once bustling port city is now said to be home to ghosts, necromancers and dangerous man-eating wolves! Such nonsense can’t hold any merit, right? After hiring a local boatman to take you to the island, you start to question the rational world you thought yourself a part of. Confront an evil warlock, a vicious pack of wolves and other dark forces to escape with your life!

    • Unlock background stories for the characters
    • Find hidden collectables
    • Enjoy a haunting atmosphere
    • Wallpapers, concept art, and music too!

Ominous Tales: The Forsaken Isle (IHOG)

Options include separate sliders for Music, SFX and Voices, Full-screen, Widescreen and Custom Cursor.  Three difficulties to choose from, plus a Custom Mode!

    Story:

You have been having terrible nightmares about a woman - Annabel - beseeching you to save her, and the monstrous gaze of the one who torments her.  Travel to the "Forsaken Isle", as the locals call it, and face the vengeful spirits that reside there.

Our Journal tracks the story and gives us some extra information, and there is also a tab for pages that we find from Annabel's diary.

    Gameplay:

Be on the lookout for THREE types of Collectibles:  Diary pages, Tormented Souls (ghosts) and Claw Marks.

Our MAP is interactive, and can show where there are actions that need to be taken, as well as which scenes have collectibles that you haven't found yet.  Click on any location to instantly transport.

Using a HINT during the adventure portion of the game will either direct your attention to an area of the scene or give you a directional hint.

Inventory items that have a + sign next to them are interactive - just click to zoom in.

The Hidden Object Scenes alternate between interactive find-by-list scenes and non-interactive find-by-silhouette scenes.  HOS do repeat (as mentioned above), but items you found the first time around stay gone.  There are not many HOS in the game, total, and they can be SKIPPED!

    Sights and Sounds:

I am very impressed with the quality of the voice overs.  Every one of them is really well done, and even have appropriate emotions (something that is frequently lacking in casual games)!

I also LOVE the graphics - they are SO beautiful; they drew me right in.

The music is great, although it jumps up now and then, and I really like the SFX they use for when we find something or solve a puzzle.  Thank you devs for the separate sliders, seriously! ;D

This is not a Collector's Edition, but there is some Extra Content:

    • 5 Wallpapers
    • Before and after Concept Art
    • 3 Music Tracks (cannot be saved)
    • Collectibles: 8 Diary Pages, 9 Tormented Souls and 12 Claw Marks
    • 8 pages of background story

    Verdict:

Can be played as either an IHOG or an adventure-lite. Gorgeous graphics, excellent voice overs and interesting story - Great quality all the way around!  It is, however, woefully short, coming in at anywhere between 2 to 2.5 hours of gameplay.  A lovely way to spend a couple of hours~
