Doorways - Impromptu Group Play! Empty Doorways - Impromptu Group Play!

Post by genkicoll Tue Feb 18, 2014 2:00 pm

At least four members have picked this up in the Daily Royale special, and I'll be doing so, myself! Laugh Might as well do a group play through of these first two chapters!

Since the issue of saving seems to be a problem, I found this in a review on Steam:
The game plays in set chapters and has an auto save feature.

The game thread is here: Doorways

As always, remember to put any spoilers in spoiler tags or use a light color so that we have to highlight the text to read it.  If you need further instructions, just mention it, and I'll edit them in to this first post!

Now, if you'll excuse me... I'm off to purchase~!  Evil Grin

Here are the controls, which CAN BE CHANGED, if you like!

    ---W---------A------S-------D
    Forward - Left - Right - Back

    Shift - Decelerate
    Crouch - Control
    Jump - Space Bar
    Inventory - Tab
    Notes - N
      Or use the direct approach: Items - I, Notes - N, Relics - R

    Push - Left Mouse Button
    Pull - Right Mouse Button

As I mentioned, ALL of these can be adjusted in the options menu.  Personally, I changed Crouch to the down arror, and Decelerate to the Enter button.

    TO ADJUST CONTROLS:
Go into the options menu, and use Enter button to make an adjustment.  Once you hit Enter, select the key you want to have as that control.  If you want the Enter key to be used for that action, just hit the Enter key a second time.

Move the mouse to look around your environment.  It's a 360 degree game!

WOO-HOO.    Happy bounce  Group  Gameplay.    This one will go so much better for me than
    the Longest Journey.

I have already started playing and got myself unstuck.

Here is a hint for anyone who has already started playing,  has gotten past the
tutorial and is on their murky way.

    spoiler:

I am stopping for now.  I find I must eat.   ThanksMeal

Luvtoread, please... jump me across   Laugh

The W and Space Bar works, and I can jump onto some of the rocks.  But then the trail of rocks ends.  The next rock is too far away, so when I try to jump, I just fall back down to the ground.   Gah!

The Automatic Save must kick in, after the tutorial, cos it keeps going back to the start, for me.   Hmm...

Going into post #1 to edit this info in for quick-reference! Sunny

Frodo, I had trouble with the jumping part, too Yeah right

Here's what I did:  I used the mouse to look at the GROUND, and didn't make the jump until the very last second.  I got it on my second try once I started trying this.

You don't have to start over to do this -- run through the water until you get back to close to the metal grating.  You can jump on to the rocks there a few times to get back on level ground.

EDIT:  At the note that says to find your way to the top:

Nope, I got past that... and it only gets worse!  Visibility is VERY poor there, BUT, it does save periodically, so if you mess up, you don't have to go back to the very beginning Big smile

Luvtoread, you're right - it's that last leap at top of the rocks that I can't do.   Gah!

I thought at first, I could use that moveable rock as a stepping stone.  But that was stupid of me - if I'm on rocks anyway, I don't have much room to move, and I certainly can't move an extra rock into place.  I just hadn't thought it through  Embarrassed

So I'm back to being stuck at the ghastly last leap.   Shock

I'm starting to really enjoy this.  The part after where you are, luv, is very puzzle-driven, and that got me to thinking that where you ARE is just a different kind of puzzle.  It takes trial and error, yes, but a puzzle nonetheless.

The next part is more logic-driven.  It was over all too soon Laugh  Now I'm stuck again, but not because I'm doing something wrong -- 'cause I can't figure out what I'm supposed to be doing!  SO, I'm taking a break to look at other things for a while Smile

I hope that you're OK with your coordination, Justie!  There are parts where you have to be precise where you land or get things done quickly! OH!

I'm not going to spoil anything here, but I will say that as of chapter 2, you finally have a reason to use the right mouse button (pull) and the S button (back up).

I really want to talk about this chapter, but I dare not say anything else, lest I ruin what's to come for y'all! Elk grin

EDIT: And I'm stuck again Laugh  I seem to be missing something, but I can't figure out where to look... Will wait a while before I go back to it, so that I can have a fresh perspective.
