So Esme, how are you coping with all that logic and common sense in Emberwing?

I see you didn't warn us about that frodo - just thought you'd leave us to cope on our own did you?

Here's the thing-- any game that features an armored guinea pig can't be all logic and common sense, so you know, it's got that going for it. LOL

A crazy friend of mine just had to find an armoured guinea pig whilst she played Emberwing - she found this and sent it to another friend of mine who has 25 guinea pigs (and therefore qualifies as crazy too )

Mind you, I haven't even bought Emberwing yet - but I know it has armoured guinea pigs that I'm dying to see and logic and reasoning, which of course, I don't believe, that's just esme teasing me

LMAO!! I love this place! It always puts a smile on my face!
Esme, you know I love your sense of humor...along with your mini-rants!!
I'm playing Emberwing, also & enjoying it very much. When I beta'd the game, I thought the star nut elf's voice sounded similar to a surfer dude's voice!
It's a crazy-good game though!
I've thought about trying Violett (and still may), but, hmmm...I've read the frustration level is sky-high & I don't really need that kind of aggravation right now.
I have finished "The Night Circus" and...just wow, I was blown away! So elegantly written, I felt like I was there partaking all the wonderful sights and smells a "night" circus would offer.
Well, I'm off to try the new Surface & am waiting on Cadenza to show up. Seriously need a BOGO sale this weekend, BF!

No worries, Justie. Your guinea pig is fine. I got one of my own to go on adventures! He's a secret agent guinea pig. He lives for this stuff. LOL
(I really have lost it, haven't I? LOL)

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Okay - serious question here from an unknowledgable neo-Luddite (ok, a little extreme) who needs a computer to play games.
My desktop computer, 6+ years old, has been dying a slow but certain death and is, I believe, very close to the death rattle stage. I need to replace it soon and need your advice! I should probably buy a laptop but I still prefer the old fashioned sit-at-a-computer style and my eyes appreciate a large screen.
I currently have an HP system and have been happy with it, and I use Vista. I never wanted Windows 7 and I hear 8 has been a headache for many. What is your take on operating systems and what would you do/choose if you were me? Please feel free to recommend memory capacity as well because I am SO unschooled in this stuff and have no idea.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR ANY INPUT!!!

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Oh wow, the new Surface game is totally NOT getting good reviews. I was in no rush to demo it yesterday when I read "comic style" something in someone's comments.
I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later that another Big E developer would release another subpar game. (I did get Riddles of Fate 2, not the CE, the SE)
I still have faith in Elephant Games, as they're one of my favorite teams! I thought they did a fine job with MCF: Fate's Carnival (though it was a bit difficult, those darned puzzle locks!).
I'm going to try to find the time to demo Surface (5, is it?) today.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Hmm, tricky to answer without asking a thousand questions.
You need to think about what you are going to be doing on it in the next 5 years or so. If the games are the thing, then you are pretty much forced to go with Windows 7 or 8. Most games are still compatible with XP, but for how much longer? A lot of people still say Mac is the best operating system, but that would mean relearning a whole new deal, and a lot of games still come out without a Mac version.
What exactly is it you don't like about 7? I find it does the job. (Don't like the library system though)

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
djrum, I think it got bad reviews because the last Surface was just so amazing, we were all a little disappointed this wasn't better yet. Surface 3 was a disappointment too. (this is Surface 5)
It's still a good game. And I like Elephant's CE content, with the Secret Room.
It is on my wish list for the next BOGO sale.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I'm not a techie person, RMom, but here's my thoughts & comments.
I love my 6+ years old desktop! It's a HP Vista, also, and I've never had anything go seriously wrong. But I feel she's on her last leg & I am absolutely ill about that!
I've heard many bad things about Windows 8, but I also heard bad things about Vista (personally, it worked fine for the things I do).
You could get a larger screen laptop, depends on what you want to spend. I've got a 16.3 in. screen on my Toshiba. It's okay, but some games won't play widescreen, whereas, on my desktop they do.
Memory is very important (I'm told). Again, depending on how much you want to spend, the higher the speed, the better it will handle different things.
The graphics card is another thing to consider. Dedicated being better than integrated. From what I understand, an integrated card "shares" sound & video. Dedicated means separate cards for each.
My laptop was around $400 (on sale). I have 4 GB of RAM, 500+ GB of storage and an integrated graphics card. I'm not sure what my CPU is...maybe a BIOS something.
I prefer desktops. I'm not sure if a laptop is upgradeable, but most desktops are (if you have to upgrade your RAM or graphics card) at a relatively low cost.
Not much help, I know. Genki or Vervaine (Vervaine helped me) would be a lot more help. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to computer specs & tech stuff.
Oh, I almost forgot, I've got Windows 7 on my laptop and love it.
