    The first lunar eclipse of 2022 is tonight!

    A total lunar eclipse is now in progress on May 15-16, 2022, the first of two total lunar eclipses in 2022. A second eclipse will happen on 8 November. The event took place near to lunar perigee; as a result, this supermoon was referred to in US media coverage as a "super flower blood moon"
