    Broken Age Header

Broken Age is a timeless coming-of-age story of barfing trees and talking spoons. Vella Tartine and Shay Volta are two teenagers in strangely similar situations, but radically different worlds. The player can freely switch between their stories, helping them take control of their own lives, and dealing with the unexpected adventures that follow.

The first graphic adventure by Tim Schafer in sixteen years, Broken Age began began two years ago in a historic, record-breaking Kickstarter campaign. Now it's here in all it's beautiful, 2D, hand-painted glory, with an original orchestral soundtrack and an all-star vocal cast.

They said adventure games were dead, but then Broken Age punched its hand out of the grave and grabbed you by the wrist and you screamed just like in the end of Carrie except what you screamed was "I love adventure games so much!" And sorry I spoiled the end of Carrie.

    • Pointing
    • Clicking
    • Original soundtrack, composed by Peter McConnell, recorded by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
    • All-star voice cast, including Elijah Wood, Jack Black, Jennifer Hale, Wil Wheaton, and Pendleton Ward
    • Dialog Trees!
    • Some jokes. Unless you don't think they're funny, in which case we totally weren't trying to be funny.
    • A whole bunch of awesome PUZZLES
    • This one really hard puzzle that you won't get but you'll look it up online and not tell anybody
    • All your hopes and dreams

I liked the quirky art of this game, so took a closer look.  I watched the first trailer:

And then I looked at Vella's trailer:

Ohhh, Vella's story is so intriguing!  Now I want this game *_*  I'll wait for it to come down in price, of course, but it looks really good!

Elijah Wood and Wil Wheaton are voice actors for the game, check this out from theverge.com:

Broken Age, a point-and-click adventure game from beloved studio Double Fine, is welcoming Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood and several other veteran actors to the cast. In a pair of new videos, the studio has introduced the people who will breathe additional life into the game's already lushly illustrated world, and shared footage of both Wood and Wil Wheaton reading lines of dialogue for their characters. Wood will be playing Shay, one of the game's two protagonists, a young boy seeking to take control of an artificially intelligent starship which has been his parent and guardian ever since birth.

Meanwhile, Wil Wheaton will be playing Curtis the Lumberjack, a character the company showed off in an early concept video (before the game was named or even really explained) but initially planned to cut. After fans asked after the hipster-influenced lumberjack, though, the studio brought back the character.

Double Fine is also adding a couple of cast members from previous game Psychonauts: Nikki Rapp, who also voiced a character in Telltale's The Walking Dead, and Ginny Westcott, who was also in LucasArts' Day of the Tentacle. Other new voices include Masasa Moyo of Batman: Arkham Origins and a number of animated series, as well as Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos. They're joining a cast that already includes Jack Black, prolific video game voice actress Jennifer Hale, and Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward. Because of funding issues, the game will be released in two parts, the first of which is coming to Steam Early Access in January 2014.

    NEAT!

I'm biting too!  So glad it came to GOG and am loving the pass...I just missed the Kickstarter.  (This was back when I saw things I liked and completely forgot to back them in time.  I'm looking at YOU The Longest Journey 3.)  Now I just spend ridiculous amounts of money at Kickstarter which is why I have to wait for games to be dirt cheap elsewhere.  Oh, the life of a gaming addict.
