memories to share with y'all ... spring gets me every time

 

hey there ..

a few years back .. spent two months in Deer River, Minnesota

small place ... less than a few thousand

there is no jail >>> have to go to next town !! 

have family there whom I adore as are real people ..just wonderful ..

spent my time in a REAL LOG CABIN ... built in the 1800's

root cellar sooooo cold could freeze water in 100 degree summer

outside of the town and no neighbours for MILES AND MILES !!!

I LOVED IT THERE !!  

would move in a second if it could be mine

lake at front where deer would come at dusk and dawn to drink

fishing in lake was paradise  ...

there is something about the place that is incredibly magical .. 

was happy and just ...hard to explain except to say that THIS is my idea of where to spend eternity

so ... picture this

miles from town ... and trees on outer edges so as if were on an island almost

I decide to make dinner for my cousin

and dressed up in a black cocktail dress to ooomph it up

to find the place is nigh on impossible btw

it darkened  .. and still no cousin

then headlights BUT not him !!

so imagine me ...in a cocktail dress ..

middle of nowhere greeting whomever it was with a shotgun on my hip !!! LOL!!

REALLY !!!!

this is also where I learned to love the skidder

played lumberjack during the day

such a fabulous experience ..

but was not allowed to do much other than watch  which was mindblowing

and  "stick" ..... measuring logs to be cut with a stick !!!

best summer of my life ...

and here is  ... tada ... the fair skidder >>> isn't she BEAUTIFUL !!!

one of my cousin's best friends ... 

you either had to be lost as hell OR know my cousin to get to the cabin ...



apparently they still laugh at the lady in the black dress with shotgun !!

another part of summer was spent making own ammunition ..

and target practice ...

My cousin was Army  . Special Ops 

and a lotta other clandestine stuff ...

basically just mixed and blended and filled the cartridges ... with what >>> ????

I was a good soldier so just did as told ....  *not a common happening*

and no stilletto's ... sadly

my cousins had such big personalities and I loved them so much
thought they were all over 6 feet >>>> >>> but  the tallest barely made 5ft8 !!

so flats or bare feet ... LOL!!

dammit >>> would have been a better story if I had worn them !!!
