Re: GOG's 2013 DRM-Free Winter Sale
My special deal today was Reus for $2.49... awesome, since it's already on sale for $4.99 and I was about to buy it. But I thought better and held off on buying both that and Lilly Looking Through (also on sale for $4.99 but I'm hoping will turn up a daily special before the sale ends).

Yup, got that one the other day!genkicoll wrote:The Book of Unwritten Tales is one of the pick-a-surprise deals today, and the price is $3.99 if you pick that box (Brave New Worlds.)
The choices may appear random but they seem to circulate and make the rounds, lol.
Honestly I get so much play value from these games. Tales of Monkey Island is a funny, clever, challenging point & click in 5 installments that DH and I played for several weeks. We're both very excited for Broken Sword 5 but since I missed getting it at the pre-sale price I'll wait a bit until it's on sale.

Re: GOG's 2013 DRM-Free Winter Sale
Thank you genki, now that's cleared up I am excited about diving into all these adventure games I've got, but I'm putting it off till I get the reviews done for all the casual HOPAs I've got. At the rate I'm going I am never going to get to them, but something will give, I'm not spending as much time on each review anymore.
Can you believe it, two of the best games of the year, maybe THE two of the year - Nevertales and MCF Fate's Carnival - I have been unable to finish due to lack of stamina and puzzle power? They're such great games but they have taken it out of me so much I've no energy for anything else. Anyone else feel the same about these two?

I believe it! Sometimes you just have to be in the mood for certain games!
If you choose Alan Wake American Nightmare as your Daily Surprise, it's only $0.99!

Aw, it's not one of my choices. Anyway it's a shooter, right? I'm not into those.genkicoll wrote:If you choose Alan Wake American Nightmare as your Daily Surprise, it's only $0.99!
My daily deal options today are Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, Escape Goat, and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (that one sounds intense, haha).
ETA - Kinda tempted to get I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, just for the title alone.

That one certainly is eye catching, isn't it? I watched the video - it looks intense (and he's got voice enough to tell you how much he hates all mankind - or the 5 surviving ones anyway)

Re: GOG's 2013 DRM-Free Winter Sale
I have I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream on disk, and have never tried to play it! Been thinking of getting the GOG version, as then I wouldn't have to deal with the compatibility issues I'd have with the CD.

Re: GOG's 2013 DRM-Free Winter Sale
Thanks everyone. Unfortunately, RL interfered with my exploring GOG games. Hopefully I can get back into it today. I did play a little of To the Moon and did okay. I'm thinking Machinarium and Botanicula are my next bets.

Re: GOG's 2013 DRM-Free Winter Sale
Good choices, Volnole! I hope that you enjoy To the Moon as much as I did! There's a puzzle that repeats at the end of each memory block, and I recommend saving before you start it each time -- that way if you can't figure it out, you can load your saved game and use the walkthrough for the solution!
Battle Realms + Winter of the Wolf --- Costume Quest --- Divinity 2: Developer's Cut
If anyone is interested in these, let me know, and I'll choose one so I can let you know the price!

Re: GOG's 2013 DRM-Free Winter Sale
That's a good idea listing GOG's choices. But I don't know the prices transfer. In other words, my options today are:
System Shock 2 --- Pixeljunk Monsters HD --- Deus X2: Invisible War
Whatever price I'd be offered would be relative to me placing an order. Those with different offers (such as yourself) would have to pay the regular listed sale prices for the games above.

Yep Just posting my choices in case someone else gets (one or more of) the same games as their daily surprise.
I'm not interested in any of my choices OR yours today!

I'm with you there. GOG's a great site but has lots of games I just don't want.genkicoll wrote:I'm not interested in any of my choices OR yours today!

Re: GOG's 2013 DRM-Free Winter Sale
Speaking of which...
my special deals today have 'commando ammo', 'city rampage', and 'total annihilation' as part of their titles, respectively. Jeez, not to be sexist here but could they BE more macho??

Re: GOG's 2013 DRM-Free Winter Sale
Ahahaha Totally!
Now here's something new. I'm signed in both here and at home, and up 'til today, the site has given me the same choices at both places. Today I get different choices here at work, despite being signed in.
SO, at the moment I have Thief 3: Deadly Shadows, Megabyte Punch, and Battle Realms + Winter of the Wolf.
At home I know that my third option was The Witcher Enhanced Edition.

Re: GOG's 2013 DRM-Free Winter Sale
There are NINE featured game packs today, and my three pick-one choices are:
Deus Ex 2: Invisible War --- Triple Town --- Roller Coaster Tycoon Deluxe
and there are 15 deals beneath those, including I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream for $1.99!

Re: GOG's 2013 DRM-Free Winter Sale
Sale's over! I bought from them throughout the sale but as it turned out I didn't get I Have No Mouth... There were other must-have's higher on my list, plus I just didn't think all that gruesome horror was 'me'.
Great thing about GOG is that there will be lots more sales!
