    Evil Stalks The Daylight Hours
    Sunny Sunny SunnySunny

    BASED ON COMPLETED GAME

When an evil warlock escapes captivity and passed your way, you find yourself in Redemption Cemetery. A raven becomes human and explains that you must save three souls by helping them save their children, in order to defeat the warlock and escape the cemetery.

The first interesting thing about this game is that it is a creepy one set in daylight. Okay, it’s not a bright and sunny summer morn, but it is daylight and the game doesn’t lose its creep factor as a result.

Marvellously drawn, as we’ve come to expect, this game is the second in the series, Children’s Plight offers the same essential style of game as the first. Each quest to save a child is self-contained, keeping gameplay within a limited number of locations at a time. The difficulties the children find themselves in are interesting, and significantly different, and that adds to the experience.

The puzzles tend towards easy, some are originals. They outnumber the HOs, but it’s a good balance.

HOs are less cluttered than in the first game of the series, with larger items and interactive items clearly marked in the list. This made them much easier.
In fact, I think this game is overall much easier than the first, and therefore shorter, but I believe it is still a good game and a good buy.

Once again, I give this game four stars only because I know that the sequel to this is even better.

    I Recommend This Game!

Redemption Cemetery 2: Children's Plight (IHOG)
    This is a standalone story

WARNING: People who are serious arachnophobes should consider steering clear of this one.

Options include separate sliders for Music and Sound, Full-screen, auto-Widescreen and Custom Cursor.  Choice of Regular or Expert Mode.

    Story:

An evil warlock has broken the bonds that held him captive, and has chosen you to use as a bridge to remain free in the world.  You are now trapped in an otherworldly cemetery, but restless souls needing closure will help you, if you will just help them... Save the children that the warlock has kidnapped to earn your freedom, and perhaps defeat the warlock once and for all.

Our Journal contains some extra story, and no spoilers!

    Gameplay:

The first game in the series, Curse of the Raven, is not yet available at Steam, but I can say that Children's Plight follows the same kind of format.  There are three children that need your help, each with their own separate environment.  Freeing a child will unlock a new area, and a new spirit and child to help.

There is no MAP, but the active scenes are kept to a small enough area that there is not a ton of to-ing and fro-ing.  The devs seemed to understand that we don't like to do a lot of backtracking, as at the end of each child's story, you will be given a portal to insta-transport you back to where you need to be.  Nice!

Be aware that there are a couple of scenes where there are two or more directional arrows that point the same direction (up), but will take you to different places.  The first is where you see a mansion, and the second is in the bonus chapter, but is easy enough to figure out, since you've been to that location before.

Using a HINT during the adventure portion of the game will either pinpoint something on the screen or will tell you there's nothing left to do there.  No directional hint available.

The Hidden Object Scenes are lightly-interactive, with items listed in blue needing some kind of action before you can find/collect the object.  HOS are on the challenging side, and are pretty junk-piley.

This title leans heavily towards finding HO's, with a lesser emphasis on adventuring.

    Sights and Sounds:

The graphics feel a bit dated, but there are some scenes that I absolutely loved, both in composition and the feeling that they evoked.

The music is nicely environmental, but it's the background sounds that really shine for this one, especially during the first story.  So deliciously creepy!  The voices are well-done overall.

    CE Content:

    • Integrated Strategy Guide
    • Bonus Chapter
    • 6 Wallpapers
    • 18 Concept Art
    • 3 Screensavers
    • 4 Music Tracks (can be saved)

    Bonus Chapter:

The bonus chapter is not necessary to feel like you've had a good ending, but it does give us some extra closure, and the feeling of a job well done.  The gameplay is the same, but there is a bit more to-ing and fro-ing than there was in the main game.

    Verdict:

This title feels a little dated and a bit sparse on the bonus content, but is overall an enjoyable game.  This is a perfect game to play when you have limited time, due to the fact that there are three separate stories/areas to explore.  Children's Plight is HO-heavy, so I'd recommend it to anyone who loves finding hidden objects!
