There are a few acronyms and terms you should know, for you'll see them a lot!
Game Genres:
AHOG - Adventure-Hidden Object Game
FPS - First Person Shooter
HOG - Hidden Object Game
HOPA - Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure
FROG - FRagmented Object Game. Find pieces of items to make a whole object, which you will then use in the game. Dark Parables: Briar Rose would be a good example.
IHOG - Interactive Hidden Object Game
LF/LFG - Large File Game. These games usually don't have a demo, for the files are so big, it would eat up the sites' bandwidth. There are some exceptions, such as the Drawn games, MCF: Dire Grove or HE: Devil's Triangle, but you're downloading the first *chapter* of the game, which will not necessarily last you a full hour.
LFA - Large File Adventure Game. Syberia, Dracula Origins, Return to Mysterious Island and Chronicles of Mystery: Tree of Life are all LFA's.
Pop-up Game (aka Bubble) - Games where you interact with objects via "pop-ups". You'll be required to find certain items and place them there to interact with these objects. A good example would be the Treasure Seekers series.
RPG = Role Playing Game (such as the Aveyond and Millennium games) These games are typically VERY long - it's not unusual for them to last 20 hours.
