Picture this ... 1944 Cover Girl in colour

Post by orphaned on Thu Dec 25, 2014 5:36 am

I had an entirely different night before Christmas planned ...

but a cranky computer changed that

    so ...

instead of having the TV  as white noise background

I actually had to WATCH something !!  go figure !!

However,  much to my delight ...

TCM (Turner Classic Movies) again to the rescue !!!

COVER GIRL >>>>  hard to believe was from the 40's.

What a treat  !!!  Okay Okay Okay

Rita Hayworth ---stunningly gorgeous --- and Gene Kelly --- oh my  Silly face

The dancing .... the music ... the singing ... wonderful !!

a storyline that was charming and a titch old fashioned but one that  still teared me up !!

the main song whose music meandered through much of the movie  ... beautifully haunting

    and the words >>>> ...

    Long ago and far away
I dreamed a dream one day
And now that dream is here beside me
    Long the skies were overcast
But now the clouds have passed
    You're here at last!
Chills run up and down my spine
    Aladdin's Lamp is mine
The dream I dreamed was not denied me
Just one look and then I knew
    That all I longed for
    Long ago was you.

Gershwin song ... perfection as always

Jo Stafford singing  ...  sigh ..

I wish I had seen that.    Love those old movies.

    Rita Hayworth was a beauty.

Never be a prisoner of your past.
It was just a lesson, not a life sentence.
