I'm afraid that I won't be able to play my games if I update to Win10!

I'm not going to update to Win10. I'm still trying to figure out Win8 and I hate it.
I bought the Maze 360 one, so might start it today, but I've been reading a LOT lately and have been enjoying it. I guess I'm trying to fit it all in before I have to go back to work.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Thanks for the input, everyone! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one in no hurry to upgrade to Win10. Genki, I feel the same way. It basically boils down to me being afraid I won't be able to play any of my games and I know you are tech savvy!
Esme, my sister has Win8 and she hates it, too.
Justie, the bonus content in both games contains the usual stuff. The bonus gameplay for Beyond totally lost me there for a while, but I muddled through it. There is a "find a bunch of HOs" section, which I liked. And I did watch the short "making of" video.
I discovered (by accident) the music tracks were downloadable to a folder on my computer, though I can't remember which one. That was in the bonus for Maze, so I'm assuming it applies to Beyond, also.
The bonus gameplay in Maze was quite lengthy (for me) and is a "prequel" to the main game.
You can also go back and find collectibles you may've missed. Of course, I had to.
I missed MOs in both games (naturally) and I studied the screens diligently, still couldn't find them.
In Maze, I think I made some wrong choices because I had an "X" in a couple of the boxes on the right, but it didn't affect the gameplay and I was able to finish.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
esme- I remember reading on some posts that most people had problems with W8, but for
some reason 8.1 works much better.
My laptop keeps telling me I can upgrade to W10, but I won't do it because its over 4
years old and I am afraid of 1: Not being able to play my games and 2: well, my laptop
is no spring chicken. Not sure it can handle it. Or maybe I can't handle it.
I am just happy my laptop is still working as it was giving me "not working" scares
a little while back.
I still have not finished Beyond or Maze. I am close to the end with Beyond.
I think it kind of took a slightly, umm, dumb turn.
Maze I am thoroughly enjoying when I play.
Right now, its off to work.

- really??:
- You've got the army after you, aliens are taking over the
earth, and you have to deal with a pouty actor who needs a Woody doll
to comfort him?
Then, there is Carl. I really did not see that coming. Not quite sure how I
feel about that one.
Maze I am thoroughly enjoying when I play.

Yes, I agree. It did take a slightly dumb turn. Maybe that's why I preferred Eternal Journey: New Atlantis.
You are already back to work, luvtoread? Schools around here are starting earlier this year, too. It seems like the kids didn't get much of a vacation with all the rain we've had and the usual summer events having to be postponed, delayed, or cancelled.

Is Beyond really sci-fi-y? I'm not too fond of sci-fi games... or underwater ones for some reason.
I just started Maze and thank tha Lord! It's creepy! Yay!
I'm going to pace myself so I don't blow through it too fast.

Yes, Beyond is sci-fi-y, Esme! It is a very good, well-designed game.
Oh, most definitely, pace yourself in Maze...and enjoy the lavish scenery!
Speaking of lavish scenery, I finished Tibetan Quest: Beyond the World's End. The graphics were beautiful. I think every color in the spectrum was used. The cut-scenes were really good!
The soundtrack was soothing and non-intrusive.
The many HO scenes were a bit different and crystal clear.
The gameplay was super easy, but I enjoyed it, um... glad I got it on sale, though!

Regular school is not in session yet---thank goodness!!!
There is summer work--charters-which is going various places for different
camps and organizations, like the Y for instance- summer school, various
school trips.
I am home earlier than usual today, so will be playing more of Maze.

I'm just popping in to say that Maze: 360 is awesomely creepy! And ask a question; does the game differ based on what your answer is to the "what scares you most?" question? I can't see how it would, but I'd be interested to know what your experience has been for those of you who have played it.
Cuz I'm curious like that.

I wondered about that, too, Esme. I don't think it would, either.
My grandkids were back in school yesterday. Way too early, but they do miss a lot during winter because of the weather.

I picked the last one... fear of pain I think... the one with the chainsaw blades because they made me jump. What did you pick? Do you remember?
And yes, this is too early. MI has a law where the kids can't begin until after Labor Day, though I have meetings before that. It's too close for my happiness.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I figured that little spawn of Satan would use the fear you picked against you.
I picked Darkness. Then found myself having to go through a very dark hallway
using a flashlight that would flicker off and on and having what looked like the
Walking Dead and a creepy kid jump out at you.
Did anyone else catch the X Files reference and Stephen King's TV
show Haven reference?

That's what happened when I picked fear of pain too. I thought it might have more saw blades, but it was just the dark hallway and the creepy doll thing.
Bummer.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I picked fear of dark, too, and had that creepy doll thing latch onto me in the dark hallway. I thought it was scary enough because I don't like the dark and I'm not fond of dolls.
I caught the X Files reference, but not the Haven one. I'm gonna replay it, for sure.
Right now, I went back and un/reinstalled Rite of Passage: The Lost Tides to see if I could make it past the airplane glitch by grabbing everything I need before boarding the plane.
If the game won't let me do that, I reckon I'm SOL or maybe the update will work this time.
I don't think I'll be participating in the BOGO sale. Thursday's CE didn't interest me and the new MT has a lot of tech issues.
Elephant's games are very picky. I've had problems with them before and for me, it's usually my flash player needs updating even though I changed my setting to update automatically because it's just easier that way.
I'll demo MT later today.
I did play Beyond The Invisible or something. I think I was almost done when I ran into a glitch. The concept of the game was good, the execution was not so good and the language barrier... well, it was really bad and I felt sorry for the developers.
Had I not run into the glitch, I would've finished it, but honestly, I was tired of playing.

I just finished the demo of today's game, Dracula's Legacy, a definite buy for me.
Its more of a light Adventure with some HO's thrown in-the ho's are interactive-
the scenery is realistic and I love a good Dracula story

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
morning, everyone.
esme--mesmerizing!!
We are looking at hot and humid weather--I hope my window fan is up to the task
I may be going to the library where there is air conditioning.
I've been playing Nightmare Mysteries: Haunted by the Past. Its not a
bad game, but I am at a "really?" part.
You have to save Grandma. She is tied up and there is poisonous gas.
So, what does my intrepid character do? Put on a gas mask and start doing
everything but help Granny.
The usual nonsense.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
That sort of thing always makes me laugh. I also chuckle when we're "drowning" but still have to collect random crap from the ocean floor before we can surface to breathe. It's one of the reasons I generally won't buy/play any of the underwater themed games.
I'm going to play the new Mystery Trackers one since I really liked the beta of this game. Wish me luck!
ETA: This isn't the game a beta-ed. I don't know what I played now! LOL This one is fun so far though... and of course there's still Elf! He's the only helper I like.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I know you beta's MCF Ravenhurst and liked it. Maybe that is what your thinking of.
I finished Nightfall Mysteries: Haunted by the Past. I knew early on who was behind
the murders, but I must say that the story line does not leave you feeling sorry for the
victims.
The Bonus is not necessary, but it is obvious that there will be another NM to continue
the bonus Story. If they explain it in the new game, Bonus should not be necessary.
It is 90 degrees today. I was out this morning cause we had a job meeting, but I spent
most of the noontime in front of my fan.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
It was the Haunted Hotel beta.... I was confused because it was a chilly setting with semi-creepy stuff.
The MT game was pretty fun. I still enjoy that series.
I'm skeptical of the Nightfall Mystery one. That series is getting a little stale to me. I'll probably try it though because I'm pitiful and I can't help myself.

There's a Stephen King TV show? That's it, I am gonna have to force myself into the 21st century and see if my TV still works!luvtoread wrote:I figured that little spawn of Satan would use the fear you picked against you.
