I'm just to chapter 3.  Should I wait for folks to catch up (it isn't like I don't have a pile of other games to play  Whistle ).  ...Or am I behind everyone else  OH! ?

PS - I hope my glitch doesn't become game breaking!  I don't have the GOG version of TLJ yet ... it's on my list for when I can play all weekend without stopping.  <---- This means I may never get it.   Sigh

No reason to wait unless you want to.  A group-play is all about taking your time to enjoy the game, and sharing your thoughts with others at your leisure :D

I think I am still on Chapter 2---or is it 1?    I never keep track of these things.

I am at  the library.   I am stuck at a couple of spots

    spoiler--but probably not for pippi:
I got the library ID,  checked the computer
out to find out about Dr.  David,  read all there is to read,  Sam remembers about her
parents.   I went to talk to librarian about those files,  but all Sam says is that she has
nothing to talk to receptionist about.  So, not sure what game wants.    I also talked to
Sue and gave her paper she needed,  talked to the Professor--cannot remember his name--but
so far cannot get magic trick started to get the key.

How do you work around that glitch if it won't let you open stuff--like the cabinets?
Its frustrating and disappointing when a game gives you a hard time.

LuvTo - My workaround is to exit the area and go back.  So far, that has worked OK.  It was very frustrating, because I would think, "Oh, I need to go there and look at that..." and when I went there to look at that, nothing happened so I wandered aimlessly.  Now that I know, I hope I can keep progressing.

    As for you being stuck:

Question for LuvTo to help her get Unstuck:
Susan:  Have you gone to the magic shop and bought the supplies?  Librarian:  Did you click on all the different things to read about Dr Styles?  There are articles in addition to that video.  One will tell you something and you'll know you have to ask the librarian.

Let me know - I will try to help you past it without just telling you what to do.  Or I can mind my own beeswax.

It's good to know most folks are sort of where I am.  I was afraid that I'd gotten terribly behind since I didn't play all weekend.  I don't mind pausing here; I like kind of being at the same spot as everybody else Smile

    Are you referring to

    spoiler help!:
The files in the basement that you read after your done filing?
Or is there more stuff to read in the library?   I'll have to go back to the Magic Store
again,  I didn't know I needed stuff for Sue,   Sam didn't mention it...well, she did
say something about this being tougher to do.

    LuvTo -

Definitely Spoiler - Hopefully these are vague enough hints it doesn't just give it away:
Files - Nope; in the Library computer, there are about 5 or so different dates.  One causes the video to play.  The others tell you different information.  Some of that information is used to talk to the librarian. ... HMMM...another thought is that if you already searched the basement filing cabinet then you might already know what the librarian would say.  I dunno about this.
Sue - Yes, head back to the magic store and check the place out carefully.

Hopefully this will get you over your stuck spots.  If not; I can be less vague.  To be honest, if I hadn't had the glitch with the filing cabinet, it would have taken me a LOT longer to figure some of this stuff out.  But since I wandered aimlessly for a while, I figured some things out before I knew I needed to know it!

A More Direct Hint, in the form of a question:
So I'm figuring that if you got into the library you already bought something from the magic shop.  Right?  Well that means you know how to buy stuff, so buy some more stuff.  The magic trick with Sue is definitely the hardest so far to figure out.

    Thanks,  pippi.

I have progressed a bit.    I did the

    info on my progress:
Magic trick on Sue.  You think she would be more suspicious
of our Sam,   but just sighed.  I never did talk to librarian,  I figured I already had the article
    I took from Dr.  David's.

I had the conversation with  what's his name,  the one who said  "A wife is a wife".

Now,  I have to figure out what is next to do.

Today is going to be humid and rainy,  sweltering  so good day to play a game.

Is Chapter 3 where I am at now?  (I never keep track)

    I am attempting to

    spoiler:
figure out what wine to choose.  No matter what,  the year and the
vintage (?) are not what he is looking for,  and there are no more options!  I know
what she drinks and I might have to join her.     Drinking buddy

I got passed that once I figured out

    spoiler:
    the year of her b'day

I will definitely need a WT  for the upcoming puzzler that looks mathematical.

Ok...I know I am having a conversation of 1.....hoping you will stop in,  pippi.    SOS!

    Seriously stuck.

    help!:
I have done everything except,  according to the WT,  found the IM
in the Rolodex.  If I had,  after I talked to the Inspector,  it should've went to the
next experiment with the Students.  I normally know what a Rolodex is,  but apparently
in this game I don't.  I checked at his work desk in his private lab, thinking that big
thing with the letters was it, to the other lab, to his upstairs office.   Nothing.

I know this game is not linear,  so what I am missing is somewhere hidden in this game.
With no sparkles to lead me,  I am just roaming around trying everything.

I'm back.    Clicking around has helped.

    I went back

    spoiler:
clicked on that big thing I suspected was a Rolodex.   IM came up.
But nothing is happening!   According to the WT,  that is what it says.  Not sure what is next as I accomplished everything else..I thought.
            Tantrum

Well,   this just goes to show its the little things that will hang you up.

    I just needed to

    had to consult WT:
look at the mirror, which I should've done after talking to
housekeeper.   Also,  only clicked on Sam's bike once.  If I had clicked twice,  would've
    known what he wanted done
    .

I guess I could delete this post that has me rambling to myself    Silly face ......but hopefully it will
convince someone else that you are not alone  in your   pullhair

Of course......I have been talking to myself......in a public forum...... Suspect ......so.....I
    am  alone.....

need to quit while I am behind...this post is digressing rapidly    Belly laugh

I finished up the Testament of SH.    Really enjoyed it.   Hate ending a good game.

So,   I am back to playing Gray Matter and just had a good laugh.   Any of you playing
will know what I mean when she says  "I feel so stupid".

My only "huh"  in that scene is she is able to take something without any alarms going off.
I was recently at an art museum,  and I set off the alarm because I got to close to the
    books!!    Embarrassed

Found out I could jump back very quickly.

genki---I have read your other thread and I, too,  hope that soon you can get back to some
semblance of a normal life  (aka--game playing    Snicker )

I just finished this game.  I should've seen the outcome but I was distracted by

    spoiler:
Sam running around blaming everyone.  I did think a certain someone's
Father was creepy looking.   I liked talking to Charley's mum

This game had its challenges,  and I like its points system.   As aggravating as I first
thought it was,   it was a good thing it would not let you move on till you accomplished
something you missed in the Chapters.

Now,  I have 2 started and not played in awhile games:
Montague's Mount and The Book of Unwritten Tales  (I started and stopped
playing Unwritten Tales about 2 months ago.   Between not knowing what to do and
having to work a lot,  it has just languished in laptop limbo).

It is raining out,   no work for me.....guess I will just play.

I've been playing the game a bit tonight, and I'm currently in the magic shop.
    Spoiler:
I've talked to Mr. Mephisto-wannabe and solved the Daedelus(sp?) puzzle box, plus roped the three students at the freshman party into doing the experiment

I'm not feeling terribly compelled to play the game at this point, but I'm sure it will pick up once I've found all six students.  I do wish the gameplay was a bit more intuitive, but I'm guessing it will be easier once I get into the rhythm of the game.
