"Heartseeker Dragons are very social creatures that emanate a sweet chocolatey scent. Their captivating perfume easily attracts adult dragons that don’t yet have a mate."

ONCE AGAIN AT THE COAL FACE
    by your roving reporter Justie

    typingcat

Well, it's early, I'd have thought, to be noticing any changes, seeing the new eggs won't be released until Saturday 2nd August (according to our resident Dragon Cave expert, Frodo, who must hang out with the cool kids who know such things  We\'re Unworthy! ).

But the tension is already affecting the Abandoned Cave. A new record (since I started looking) of 117 people were viewing today, and what were they looking at? Egg upon egg upon egg. Not a hatchling in sight. And the eggs were everything - even a Gold one!  EEK!

All of us are holding our egg slots free, of course, for the big DROP, but we are also looking for ways to keep our slots busy until then. So forget hatchlings - there aren't any. Forget most eggs - too late for them to hatch in time. That leaves short-time eggs, and frankly, even they are dodgy!

So this newbie breeder/roving reporter is making for the Cave, to practise identifying eggs by description only. NOT as easy as it sounds! Gah!

    Stay tuned...

Good enough for me! You have an uncanny knack for predicting BOGOs, so I will bet on it!  Big smile

But if not, I'll have an unusually large supply of egg slots and red dragons at my disposal lol.

BTW, is that account I sent you his?

Congrats on your successful pairing!  heart flowers

My first 'official' lineage attempt - Blue stripe (Motley Cobalt) - matured today! Happy Birthday both! Happy Birthday Happy bounce

ONCE AGAIN AT THE COAL FACE
    PART 2

    by your roving reporter Justie

    typingcat

Wow! This "Shopping at the Coal Face", instead of the Abandoned Page, takes the Dragon Cave game skills to a whole new level of difficulty!  Two thumbs up

    Kudos, Dragon Mistress Frodo! Offering

I mean, listen to the differences:

    1. You have no visual cue to help you remember which egg you are looking for.

    2. You must memorise at least some of the important eggs' little one-liners that describe them.

    3. You have only 3 eggs to choose from at a time, although you can flit from one biome to another, but of course, that means knowing even more about the dragons you will find there.

    4. If you make a mistake you have to wait 5 hours before you can abandon the egg!  EEK!

    5. If you make the right choice, you will have to wait "7 days" for your new baby to mature!

    5. Many desirable eggs can't be found there, because they are bred-only dragons, so you are gonna be back at the Abandoned Page at some point regardless.  Rolling Eyes

    6. And if you are a dang fool like me, you 'practise' when you have no free egg slots, and so miss the Cheese dragon you stumble over! Overreaction   Belly laugh

Yay! Got my first egg from Cave (except new eggs), on this new disciplined approach to snatching! Lovely little Albino, which will be mated in my Fallen Stars Fever lineage.  Yahoo!

Was weird. Got sick of waiting for one to turn up in the Abandoned Page, and said to myself, I'll try the Cave, maybe I'll get lucky... it was the second egg description I read!  Two thumbs up

What does this... owl mean, do ya think? Someone being wise, or just pontificating ?

ONCE AGAIN AT THE COAL FACE
    PART 3

    by your roving reporter Justie

    typingcat

Well, all the excitement was before the much anticipated New Egg Drop! I got all my "Supa Savers" before the release. The "price" of eggs did drop to 4d14h, though, and is only now back up to a more 'usual' level of 5 days. Mind you, still no hatchlings coming through.

But what it lacks in hoopla, this major monthly event makes up for in mystery! There is only one breed, apparently, but a total of 8 eggs would be needed to display all their sprites!

So far, there two colours - green and yellow, and two genders, which gives us 4 sprites. I wonder what will be the trigger for the other sprites to appear? My babies are due to mature any minute now, but I know I've got the common ones... I think...

In another way, this event marked itself as unusual. From now on, the egg drops will not be the first weekend of the month, but any weekend at all. Having arrived in the middle of the 8th Birthday celebrations, which was followed by a month without drops, we newbie Dragoneers will not feel much pain. It's still all a surprise to us!  Elk grin

Meanwhile, this reporter, who had been anxiously awaiting the event, got bored and entertained herself over the last few days with creating a database with all the info I need on all my dragons in order to decide on breeding programs. All in one place, so a simple Ctrl F will get me anything I want to know!

So while it has been a little slow at the Coal Face, I've been very busy! Already have a dozen new breeding lines outlined and completed with diagrams in that same database.

Yeah, you're right, I'm a nerd. 2muchcompy And a fruitcake with it!  Crazy
