luvtoread, I've always wondered how those cooling fans worked. Does it plug into a USB Port?

I only use a raised stand to keep the laptop cooler so it doesn't sit flat on my desk.

I sit my laptop on a cooling fan  (well,  I did) and thank you for telling me the name
    of the part I need.
You just made me look less dumb when I go into the store.     Wink
My laptop has been shutting down from over heating and the fan provided extra
cooling to keep that from happening.

Oh...and a  D\\'oh!   to me.    I did the beta on the MCF:  Dire Grove   in what feels
    like ages ago!!

Hi Lilac! *wavies*  I sure hope that Black Mirror plays on Windows 7, since I just got it, myself Laugh  I have no idea on the storyline, but I generally prefer to play thing in order, anyway Big smile

Hi, luv! I'm still a gaming fiend. Haha! Hope you're well.

Does your laptop have switchable graphics? My cooling fan's been giving me trouble for quite some time. I tried to clean it myself, but I can't see well enough to remove the screws. I finally got fed up with it shutting down while I was playing The Sims 3 (even while it was sitting on a laptop cooler), so I checked the forums. Lots of other players were having the same issue. This is what helped me:

Right click on your desktop and select Graphics Properties (if you're running Windows 7) and enable Vertical Sync. I have Texture Quality set on Balance and Anisotropic Filtering set to Application Settings. Vertex Processing is set to Default.

You may not see these exact settings if you don't have an Intel Graphics card, but I think enabling Vertical Sync should help immensely. I didn't have to mess with anything else except Texture Quality. Those settings are under the 3D tab.

Now that that's done, see if you have an option to switch your graphics processor to Power Saving GPU. The graphics processing unit (GPU) is what was causing my CPU (Central Processing Unit) to overheat because the CPU cooling fan only works occasionally. I think it's probably clogged up with dust as I can tap on the bottom of my laptop and make it come on sometimes. It makes a horrible grinding noise.

I replaced my laptop cooler, too, because I don't think all the fans were working anymore. Now I can run TS3, Skyrim, Morrowind, and all my casual games (so far) without any shutdowns. I was getting a blue screen every now and again before I switched these settings. My anxiety was through the roof because there's literally no one in my town who works on computers. I'll have to drive 40 miles just to have someone check it. My brother's in Florida, so he can't take it apart for me.

Hope this helps you. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi, dj! How are you? It's good to see you.

Hello, Genki! Please let me know if Black Mirror works for you. Glad you picked it up (if it works for you, that is.) Hope you've been well.

Love you all! Happy gaming!!! Okay

I haven't been around for a while, but I wanted to pop in and let everyone know that Black Mirror is on sale for $2.50 USD. I haven't tried it because I was worried it might not run on Windows 7, but I might take a chance for that price.

Genki, I think it was you I mentioned it to a couple of months ago? I was wondering if I'd miss anything if I started with the second or third game in the series.

At any rate, the game requires a Steam account to play it. That's not a problem for me, though. If any of you have played any of the games in the series, please post your thoughts. Thanks in advance, and happy gaming! I hope you're all well.

I got Black Mirror 1 & 2 from GOG, before they were pulled.

Haven't tested 2 yet, but Part 1 plays perfectly on Windows 7.  Elk grin

Part 1 is it's own story, that ties up nicely at the end.  So you won't miss much if you start with Part 2.
Parts 2 & 3 are a 'joined' story.  So I'd recommend playing them together.  Smile

Gosh, have I entered a time warp? What in the heck is going on at BFG?

According to their FB page, the second CE this week should've been Myths of the World: Black Rose. When I go to their site, I'm seeing Danse Macabre: Moulin Rouge. That game came out a few weeks ago. I've already played it.
I've checked the forums and the dates on the posts, the people who've posted (2) act like it's a brand new game.

And there's no sale this weekend? EEK!

I know the forum's been changed again (looks like all the FtP games are either really popular or plagued with tech issues).
    I don't know what's going on...and I don't know how to contact a moderator.

I'd tentatively picked out 2 games, hoping for a sale.  OH!

The vampire storyline in the new Myths of the World: Black Rose trumps a fairytale storyline every time (IMO). I couldn't wait to play it. Cry

dj--- Today is Saturday....and there is a CE Sale.  Happy bounce

I am dl'ing MOTW right now.   I know I will buy.

Blooming Lilac---sorry I have not gotten back to you sooner.    I tried finding the
Graphics Properties,   I even typed it in the Search Programs.  I have Windows 7.
    But I get no results.
I am just going to have to find someone who can replace the cooling fans.
I really like this laptop and do not want to replace it with a new one.

I have a cold.  ..tis the season already.

I've definitely got my days mixed up this week too, though it's my own fault. Hubs and I went to see Fleetwood Mac on Wednesday night and so I took a personal day of Thursday because I knew we wouldn't get home until late... so I was sure that Thursday was Saturday all day long! LOL

Been working, slowly, on Mememto Mori still. It's a good game, but I'm sort of uncomfortable helping Death make people dead, you know? Or am I just a wuss?  Embarrassed

Thank you, luvtoread! Laugh  I've got MOTW's demo d/loaded & installed, ready to go! Okay

Yes, there is a sale! Happy bounce  I was hoping for a BOGO, I'm still trying to make up my mind on the new Echoes and a BOGO always helps!

lol, Esme, I only skipped 1 day! Laugh I haven't gotten to Memento Mori yet, I'm playing Tales of Terror: House on the Hill.

I have League of Light: Wicked Harvest (yay, I remembered the title!) installed on the desktop. I think it was stressing out my laptop. I could hear my fans or something kick into high gear.
Man, it took forever to d/l and install (on both computers). It's already crashed once. I thought I'd take a look at the Tech Issues thread...wow, didn't know there were that many problems with the game.
I mean the crash wasn't serious, it just abruptly went to my desktop screen while in a cut-scene. I went back in and had to redo what I'd previously done and was able to continue.
I'd say the cut-scene graphic was a bit too intense for my ancient desktop...if I had to guess what happened. Hmm...

My internet's been pausing out a lot lately, too. I really wish Time Warner could keep ALL their equipment in working order at the same time. It seems like I'm always having trouble with one or the other service. meh

It was great, Genki! She can still sing... actually, they all can. Lindsey is still a hyperactive wizard on the guitar, Christine is still lovely and elegant, Mick is batcrap crazy in all the right ways, John is steady and solid... and Stevie is still just Stevie. She doesn't twirl as much perhaps, but she is totally mesmerizing onstage. This was a bucket list thing for me since I've loved them since middle school and had never seen them live. When I heard Christine was going to tour with them again after 15 years I knew I had to go! It is going to sound cheesy, but they all seemed so genuinely happy and grateful and loving of the audience I was doubly happy to be there.  Wub

Memento Mori--I got so stuck in that Bonus.   I was suppose to transport,  but couldn't.
    I had to use a Hint--which I never do.
so esme--do tell.    which part are you finding silly.    (I'm anticipating an esme rant to make
    me laugh) .

I have been playing League of Light-Wicked Harvest.    I just went into the forums and found
out I totally missed out on faeries.    I never clicked on the clues in the journal.
Missed out on 2 owls.  I know the last one was at the final fight.
I enjoyed the game and am doing the Bonus.
There was one part where a wooden board was blocking the door,  and for some reason
the black bar read  "This hinge must be cleaned before I can move it".    Huh?

I would definitely recommend this game....and do not miss out on half the stuff I did.
The story is good.     And it is not short.

The good news is that you can get the owls you missed in the Extra Bonus Gameplay.

You might want to check in the forums about those fairies we missed.   I know I also collected
1 pumpkin.  I thought there would be more,   but guess I thought wrong.
I did collect all the characters,  so that is something.
Not to give too much away,   but I really had fun at the end of the Bonus game
    beating the  soul stealer dude.

esme--I agree with you.   As much as I like these games,  sometimes the level of
silliness makes you scratch your head.
