Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Hi Frodo! I have both of them now. I've played Crimson Dawn and I really liked it. I had problems with the sound (no sound at all), but a very nice person over at BF sent me a PM and told me how to do the Run as Administrator thing. Once I did that, I had sound.
I was hesitant to get Tales of Terror. I'd read about lagging issues occurring later in the game. I'd put it off long enough, so I just went ahead and bought it. (on sale)
I can't seem to pair up 2 games anymore to take advantage of a two-fer sale and that is my favorite sale!
And I'm really kind of tired of kings, queens, fairies, pixies, elves, and animal helpers.
The two CEs due out this week aren't catching my interest. I can't even remember what they are!
I was hoping for Weird Park 3.
I had to go look,
Grim Façade: The Artist and the Pretender CE
Forgotten Kingdoms: Dream of Ruin CE

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Off topic, or is it??
Today's Game Tonight is not a D&E game. But it is one that may appeal to my puzzling friends - I would certainly look my ghastly best if I had continued to try any more "challenges", my brain just doesn't work that way! And there's 230 of them!!
For Those Puzzling People... who like "Puzzles That Challenge"
Reviewed this crazy puzzle game in May! Figured Big Fish weren't ever gonna release it! Let alone as an actual TGT!
9 Elefants
Don't worry about the cat, he is intelligent, and from memory, not especially cute.
This game will give you hours and hours of quirkyinsane brain teasers, um, so, hours and hours of quirky illogical deduction quests, um, (well, you know who you are), you may never return to the real world!

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I found that on sale somewhere besides BFG, it's definitely a strange and enjoyable little game.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I demo'd the TGT, 9 Clues: The Ward for 6 minutes and purchased it!
In the reviews, someone mentioned it was a little "creepy" and another said, "seriously creepy dolls."
Yep, that's the game I'm getting!!
And, the fact that I really enjoyed the first 9 Clues game!

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
I was very impressed with the first game. Especially the snake mayor guy And the different gameplay - but with so many games to review, I never got back to it. Now I figure I'll play em one after the other

Do you remember when you played the demo? This is making me a little crazy since it seems like quite a long time ago for me.djrum wrote:I demo'd the TGT, 9 Clues: The Ward for 6 minutes and purchased it!

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
snapnhiss, I only played the demo for 9 Clues: The Ward this morning. I never got a chance to beta it.
9 Clues: The Secret of Serpent Creek (Mayor Snake Dude), I played it awhile ago.
I agree with you, Justie, what's up with all the 9's??
Is it a significant number in D&E lore?

My reviews are:
9 Clues 1: Serpent Creek
And 9 Clues 2: Hallways Of Madness which was its original title when offered as a beta.
I did this beginning of February, when the beta was released...
(I have a feeling this is not worded properly, but it's before my first coke and I can't put myself through the agony of rewriting)

February is far enough back that I still remember the game but that it seems like I played it quite a while ago. My sense of time just gets worse the older I get.

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
Speaking of gory cats, well, sorta, why do all the cool people love horror stuff? (she asks of the best of the best coolest people who love all forms of yuckiness to scare themselves with!)
I mean, really? What's the appeal? I don't care how miserable or pretty, fair or foul, so long as it is a story I like well presented. So, um, I like Stephen King's stuff because it is so well written of oooops! I think I love dark and eerie too!
Why?!??!!!

Re: Dark & Eerie Games Thread
LOL, thanks for the clip, Genki!
I love dark, eerie, creepy and chilling but NOT gory -- gotta draw the line somewhere.
Wait, I take that back a little - I like American Horror Story and a fair amount of zombie stuff so I guess if it's presented with a big side of camp gore can be okay too.
Like Justie said it's all in the story, and - for me - dark stories are often way more compelling and entertaining (and certainly escapist) than the "feel-good" sunshiney love-type stories which are pretty BORING to me.

Going to demo 9 Elefants (Elephants?) this weekend. I find myself replaying puzzlers often, maybe this will fit in.

Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop - yeah it's not new (best anime ever though, imo) but she still rocks!!
(And I am so far from "cool" in my real life, hehe.)
