Super Friday friends activate your freedom rings, and lets call in Freedom Friday. As you know it is a complicated procedure that has 4 parts to it.
The first part is Cyber Heist for Windows. In the year 2114, the United States Department of Education has become society's tyrant by the stranglehold of student debt which has grown astronomically and reduces those with debt to indentured servitude. Cyber Heist is a new vision for two-player, cooperative gameplay where neither player can succeed without the other. Play as the top-down 2D Hacker, rerouting power to unlock doors, reveal sensitive information, and provide intel. Or play as the first-person 3D Thief, a stealth-infiltrator who uses only his wits and skills to avoid drone detection, recover passwords, and dupe the security detection system. Pick your role as the Hacker or the Thief and take on the DOE to erase all record of student debt forever. Different Roles, Common Goals.
The second part is Vinyl for Windows. Vinyl is a dynamic indie music game created by graduate students at the University of Utah EAE program, that experiments with the aesthetic distance between gameplay and music.

The third part is Darkness Eternal: Jake's Tale for Windows. Darkness is taking over and YOU, a young boy from the small village of Kuriyama, are the only one who can stop it. With the power of magic passed down from your father, it is up to you to push back the Darkness... And save everyone.
The final part of the summoning for Freedom Friday is God of Thunder a blast from the past and for Windows, Mac and Linux! God of Thunder is a Zelda-esque action/adventure/puzzle/humor game released in 1994. It has many puzzles, some of them quite tough later on, but the install includes the complete hint book with solutions to all of them. There is also lot of fighting with your enchanted hammer and a boss at the end of each of the three episodes so you will need a quick hand as well as considerable wits.

Come back next week to see what our intrepid adventurers get up to!

    Desura's Freedom Friday - May 2

Some sweet goodness this Friday with several tasty releases!

    Mudlarks

"A mysterious point and click adventure game... a tale of friendship, the supernatural and unravelled secrets"

Your name is Winston. You are very much a regular, normal chap - living in London with your girlfriend and holding down a 9 to 5 office job. Among your various hobbies, you are a mudlarker. That is, the practice of combing the shore of the River Thames for historically interesting objects that may have gone underwater hundreds of years ago. One day, you and your co-mudlarker Vincent stumble upon what appears to be a valuable golden locket - and your destiny is changed forever. Two days after the find, Vincent disappears on the shore, leaving only the locket behind...

    Dwarf Tower

Dwarf Tower is our new game, that takes some proven gameplay concepts, and puts them in a stylish form. Build your tower, gather spells, and use them to destroy the enemy tower. Challenge your friends in online multiplayer mode. Think of Sea Battle, mixed with some Worms fun, and Faster Than Light room management. Add beautiful pixel-art graphics, animation, and wonderful music from Kevin MacLeod.

Dwarf Tower is a turn-based tactics game of tower building and spellcasting. Each turn you develop your tower by placing blocks, constructing rooms, and play various spells. Your tower can have Libraries (store spells), Crystals (generate mana), Dwarf Dwellings (give you dwarves to repair the tower) and some other rooms. The crucial room is Archmage's Chamber. It's position is hidden from enemy and you must protect it at all costs, or you will lose. Room scheme is very important: the higher you place it, the more powerful it gets. Higher tower gets tremendous advantage over the lower one.

    Wave Rave

Go crazy on a jet ski in this simulation featuring unprecedented water effects and dynamics! Race courses against opponents or ride wild in a free style mode. Free demo of our shelved, unfinished and untested project exclusively on Desura... Please, don't bother to install the game if you have Intel video card. Check out our other water-themed game Aquadelic GT (very well tested contrary to Wave Rave)!

    A Nation of Wind

“A Nation of Wind” is a video game featuring elements of gameplay from both “Arena Shooters” (like Geometry Wars, Super Stardust, and Asteroids), and “Real Time Strategy” games, (such as Populous, Starcraft, and Actraiser). Set in a world of floating islands and airships, the player is tasked with commanding a ship and establishing/defending colonies. Players will be forced to deal with the bizarre creatures that come up from the lower atmospheres to wreak havoc on their airship and settlements, while appeasing the god’s of the land and eventually bending them to the player’s will. “A Nation of Wind” is currently developed by one intrepid artist, Jameson Wilkins. He is a freelancer with several years of experience in the browser and mobile gaming markets, and has studied game design and art the entirety of his life.

Happy 4th of July to those in the US and happy Freedom Friday! The following games have gained their independence from your wallet!

First game is Slim the Raccoon for Windows. Slim is a young raccoon who wants to save the day, but needs very specific directions in how to go about that and that's where you come in. Slim needs you to place command blocks in his path and help him navigate the world. Help Slim save the day!

Game number two is Cubic Roll for Windows. Rolling a cube has never been more challenging. Stay on track for as long as possible, collect coolers and avoid overheating, win medals and beat records!

Number three this week is Drop Drop for Windows. Drop Drop lets the player experience falling from the master himself: a raindrop. Use Keyboard, Gamepad or the Kinect to fall from the clouds and paint the dilapidated city below. Make the biggest splash by collecting drops and hitting clouds. Avoid obstacles like birds, kites and balloons to add your name to the Literboard.

The last game for Friday is Project x : Lost memories for Windows. Every government has secrets. These secrets have been hidden from us for years. Government leaders tell us things that we think are true. You are going to be taken on a scary journey through the woods. You play as James Rollen, a normal U.S soldier. One of his missions was to guard the experiment with the code name "Project x." Suddenly James finds himself in the middle of the woods at night. He can not remember anything except "Project x". You must discover what happened to James during the "Project x" experiment and what "Project x" actually is.

OK, so windows just gave me a virus warning for one of the free Desura games ... and the last time I did a Daily Royale game (owned by Desura) is when my laptop died in April.  Should I be worried?

So much Freedom this Friday! So get cozy, put your wallet/purse/novelty coin bag back on the pedestal (because where we are going we don't need wallets/purse/novelty coin bags) its go time!

First game on the block this week is Stunt Rally for Windows and Linux. Open source racing game with a track editor. It focuses on closed rally tracks with possible stunt elements (jumps, loops, pipes). You can drive in Single-Player mode racing against the clock or completing championships. There is also an online Multi-Player mode.

The second game is Just Another Hard Game for Windows. This is a 2D side scrolling platform, except unlike most platformers where you can always see where you are jumping, the ground is invisible until you stand on it. There are 4 difficulty settings: Practice - Everything is visible and checkpoints are enabled. Easy - Nothing is visible but checkpoints are enabled. Blocks stay visible after death Medium - Nothing is visible and checkpoints are disabled. Blocks stay after death Hard - Nothing is visible, checkpoints are disabled and all blocks disappear after you die.

Thirdly we have Heroine's Quest: The Herald of Ragnarok for Windows. In desperation, the jarl of Jarnvidr has called for a Heroine, to stand against the forces of frost and put an end to the lasting winter. Her might, sorcery, and cunning may be humanity’s last resort. Are you up to the task, or will you die trying? Heroine's Quest: The Herald of Ragnarok is an adventure / RPG hybrid. Like in many adventure games, you have a world to save, and must use your wit, guile and inventory to puzzle your way through. Like in many roleplaying games, you can customize your character with various classes and skills, and must train yourself in combat to stand a chance against the fierce monsters in your way. The game is designed in the spirit and atmosphere of the classics, and strives to have the same high quality of art, music, and plot. With multiple character classes and several solutions to many puzzles, the game will have excellent replayability.

The last game for this fantastic friday is Artifice: Faith in Chaos for Windows. Artifice is an old-timey arcade shooter with a Sci-Fi theme. The aim of the game is just to have fun, relax, and enjoy the awesome graphics!
