This is SO awesome.  Hespera sent me a document of all the CE's released at Big Fish in 2013, which includes the developer name, when it was originally released, and how long it took to come out as an SE!

Did you know that there were one hundred CE's released in 2013? OH!  No?  Neither did I!  I had to change it to images, but at least you can still her her amazing list!  Check it out:

    More from Hespera:

2013 Collector Edition Statistics and Developer Information

    Noticeable trends
BFG is not picking up as many games as offered from these developers and/or won't/can't offer the premier editions available: Playrix, Alawar, Youda, Fenomen.

Free To Play (F2P) games. It seems many developers have been sold on this idea as a cure for piracy. Given that the largest part of the casual game market is in the 45 and up age group, it will be interesting to see how this pans out money-wise for the developers. Another BFG recommendation via Casual Connect.

There are more developers showing early signs of becoming "cookie monsters". Aside from the well-known "cookie monsters, ERS and Elephant Games, Eipix is showing early symptoms, with 8 games in 1 year.

Number of CEs and Time Between CEs/SEs
There were a total of 99 Collector Editions issued this year, a 23% increase over the 80 issued in 2012. There were 100 SEs issued this year, a 23.5% increase over the 81 issued in 2012, although the average number of days/weeks between the release of CE/SE remained virtually the same: 4.1 weeks in 2012 vs. 4.2 weeks in 2013. The longest SE release in 2013 was 81 days (11.5 weeks) for Elephant's Grim Tales: Bloody Mary, compared to last year's 54 days (7.71 weeks) of AliasWorld's Kingdom Chronicles.

    Developer Information
This is the first year since the introduction of Collector Editions in 2009, that a CE was not developed by Big Fish Studios. In 2009, they introduced the first CE, Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove. In 2010 they had 2; In 2011 they had 3; In 2012 they had 1. All BF Studio Games are either dead or farmed out to other developers now - Azada to ERS; Hidden Expeditions could be assigned yearly to a different developer (2012 it went to Floodlight; in 2013 it went to Eipix). Mystery Case Files is anyone's guess, if it even continues, and Drawn is, by their own announcement, 'done'.

Thirty-nine developers were responsible for the 99 CE games released this year. Twenty-eight of the developers were 'seasoned' or veteran CE developers. Eleven of them brought us CEs for the first time, while 15 of them released more than once CE.. Seven developers were responsible for 54.5% of the CEs released this year.

Developers with no CE in 2013
Awem Studios - No PC games released in 2012 or 2013. Actively working on Island Castaway 3 and getting all their other games onto mobile apps. Castaway 3 will be released in mobile app version first. PC version will be different.

AliasWorlds - Kingdom Chronicles in 2012; They've spent the year getting all their games onto mobile apps.

Cerasus Media - Dark Mysteries: The Soul Keeper; They're still around, but fixating on mobile apps.

Big Fish Studios - They're leading a happy life in the world of mobile apps (sorta like PlayFirst), as well as playing 'Godfather' to a couple of "lucky" developers. We wish them happy.

DarkBlue Games - Witch Hunters: Stolen Beauty; Haunted Manor: Lord of Mirrors - Web page says they have a new game in development (no posting date), but Facebook link on page is a dead end.

Fuzzy Bug - Haunting Mysteries: The Island of Lost Souls; the last post on their website was when this game was released - 5/12/2012 and they said it took them 14 months. I'm giving them a caution light until next year.

Gi Games - Fantastic Creations: House of Brass; This talented Spanish team opted for the world of MMORPG.

Gleanergames - Angelica Weaver: Catch Me When You Can - disappeared.

Inertia Software - Margrave: The Blacksmith's Daughter; may just be retiring Margrav series. This UK team is still offering a bevy of sudoko, mahjong, jigsaw, solitaire and other puzzle games on their own website.

Joy Bits - We may never see another CE from this team, as they are living high in the mobile app world with their "Doodle" series. They also have an F2P game.

Lesta Studios - Another talented team who is now focusing on MMORPG and F2P.

PlayPond - Mystery Legends series (Phantom of the Opera, Beauty & the Beast) Penny Dreadfuls Sweeney Todd; nothing since 2011. And I mean nothing.

Space Monkey Games - Sisters Secrecy: Arcanum Bloodlines; I'm giving a caution light here because I can't find them anywhere on the web or Facebook. It would be a shame to lose this developer.

Top Evidence - Witch Hunters: Stolen Beauty; Haunted Manor: Lord of Mirrors - Web page says they have a new game in development but that post has been there over a year. FaceBook link on page is a dead end.

    Updates From 2012 Report:
Vogat Games - Last game 10/16/2011. Well, well - the boys are back in town. The team has spent the year converting their past games to mobile apps and they are now entering the F2P market. Welcome back, guys!

FunSwitch - 0 in 2012 (1 in 2011) - After getting shutout by Gogii with no sequel to Voodoo Whisperer, there's been no more word from this exceptionally talented team. They were working on a new iHog on their own in 2011, but evidently couldn't get funding.

Mumbo Jumbo - 0 in 2012 (1 in 2011) Turned Midnight Mystery series over to Hot Lava Games. They are producing and doing other things

KatGames - 0 in 2012 (1 in 2011) - although they did release an SE - The Cross Formula. They can't finish Dream Chronicles because they don't own the rights and PlayFirst won't put up the production money or reassign the rights.

Codeminion - 0 in 2012 - Small group banded together and produced Cinders. Some of Codeminion game rights signed over to other devs.

Floodlight (1 in 2011) - teamed up with another studio.

    Color Key for Developers Report:
Dev is alive and well, even though they haven't produced any PC games lately.
Dev hasn't produced anything in 2 years. I consider this dev at risk.
Dev hasn't done anything in 2 years and has no website update and no FaceBook info.
Dev has officially shutdown/merged with another studio/no longer operational.

Thanks for sharing all this. Much appreciated. Oh wow! Now that is a bummer the Angelica Weaver developer has disappeared.  Shock I absolutely loved that game.

Its a shame.  The devs in yellow produced good games.

I will never be converted to F2P.   I am too cheap to play those.     scrooge

    Post by Sportygal2009 Tue Dec 31, 2013 5:46 pm

I never thought I would like the F2P games either but I do enjoy some of them. There's only been 1 where I spent some money and that was only to support the developer not because I needed it for the game. I didn't spent any more than what a CE would cost.

Actually I've been playing Farmville 2 on face book since January 20, 2013. Yes almost a year. Shock  I haven't spent one penny on this game. As of right now there's I believe 71 or 72 levels and I'm at level 65 right now. No I haven't completed all the quest in the game but it hasn't kept me from moving forward in the game and leveling up. I think it's pretty neat you can send gifts and have neighbors as they come and visit your farm and you can expand your land. This one is my absolute favorite.  Okay

I like these type of games when I'm not wanting to get too involved in a game. Just work on it a bit and then come back later and work some more.  I didn't like the first installment of this game just called Farmville. That game was too confusing and too busy. Too much going on for me.

Interesting stats; so cool to have all this info collected and sorted. I confess to not recognizing a lot of dev names, except of course for the obvious big guys and usual suspects.

I don't play F2P games. I'm sure some are cool but the couple I've tried seemed dull to me. Anyway, I don't really have any interest in them.

Thank you, Hespera and Genki, for sharing this list!!

Just as I suspected...PlayPond is gone with the wind. Such a shame after their awesome games, too. I hated to see them leave the world of casual games.  Cry

Thank you Hespera for the list and stats! The work involved must have been phenomenal!

I admit, though, that I found your run down on developers depressing. I don't like the F2P games on principle (I mean, I saw the cost of one purchase of points/gold whatever, was like $69, I cannot imagine justifying such expenditure on a game. even a once-off, and the cost never stops on these!).

Still, I have tried a few, and they are like the social games on fb. Yup, involving neighbours and gifts and stuff. I'm not into any of that - if I was I'd be on a mmp online game. I don't like having to constantly upgrade in order to keep playing, even if I can do it somehow without it costing me. It's boring.

And why would I want to play the same game day after day after day?

So it is depressing to me seeing developers and producers taking their talents down that route. As for mobile phone games. I have tried unsuccessfully to download HO games to my phone. One I did get up and semi-functional, it was impossible to see anything at all on the screen of my phone. I mean, HOGs more than anything else simply are not suited to such small screens! I think it's crazy.

I just hope someone will keep making games for us who are not running around all day, using every break in their day to catch up on their games.

ARggggh! I hate progress sometimes! Not really, what I hate is that the majority of gamers would want this over the sort of games I like, sidelining me yet again.

The  F2P games on Big Fish they do start out pretty good for me but then for some reason I get bored with them and not because I've hit a pay wall the game trying to get me to pay but I just get bored for some reason.  I like the ones on face book so much better.

As for the casino games on Big Fish or playing games on a phone, ipad or whatever that is definitely not for me and I will only play games on a PC. I could never play games on such a small screen.

Truth be told and I may be way off, but the way Big Fish has been going lately it wouldn't surprise me if within the next year or two they dump the PC/MAC people and go for this playing games on the phones and such.

I am frightened it will start to affect us sooner than that - already we are being bombarded with sales, special offers etc from the F2P and Casino, occasionally they've been game of the day... They may still support games already released, but less and less new games coming through... I think we'll see the beginnings of that this year.

While I do enjoy some of the F2P games I can see why some people are turned off by them. I was when they were first announced at Big Fish because before that I'd never even heard of them since I didn't have face book at that time.  As JustTheFacts mentioned the cost on some of these to buy gold/coins or whatever. Yes I've also seen the $69 price tag. No excuse for that. OH HELL NO! I'd never spend that kind of money even as much as I enjoy Farmville 2. In regards to playing the same game every day well Farmville 2 doesn't bother me in that regard because there is so much you can do in the game. I also enjoy the County Fair the game has every Thursday as you get points for your crops trying to beat your neighbors, win medals and such. This game isn't really "in your face" like some of the F2P games trying to get you to buy stuff but because something may not be for me well that doesn't mean Big Fish shouldn't offer it as I understand they have to reach many different people who like to play games different ways but I sure hope they don't dump the PC and even MAC players though I've never owned a MAC.
