Facts of Correction about Fae Races
    information from ScarletteSpider

·.•´ Fae/Faerie is the umbrella word to describe the entirety of races. Much like saying Human to differentiate us from dogs or whales.

.•´· The wee ones that have wings, that can change size from normal humanoid stature for some tasks, and then small so can fly or hide are known as the Demifae.

.•´· The Demifae have four types or names associated with them to distinguish adults from children and males from females.

Prepubescent females are wingless and are called Pixies. Then once they go through puberty their wings are freed from beneath the skin and as adults are called Faeries.

Same is true of the males. As prepubescent males they are also wingless and called Brownies. Then when they go through puberty and their wings are freed from beneath the skin, as adults are called Sprites.

These are NOT four separate races but are how you say girl/boy and woman/man of the Demifae.

·.•´ Elves/Drau/Drow. These two halves of the same race are in fact part Sidhe (pronounces as She) up to as much as one half. Tolkien has screwed up the truth for so long that it’s hard to even get people to accept the truth of this matter regardless of how much evidence you hit them with. We that have passed down the true Lore will be toiling for generations to come to correct this misnomer. The light skinned aren’t automatically Elves and the dark skinned aren’t automatically Drau. These are titles not race descriptions that were and are used in certain Gaelic tongues to differentiate Seelie from UnSeelie since they were first children of, and in later centuries when they established their own courts, allies of both Sidhe courts.

·.•´The Sidhe are the ruling class of all the Fae, and the colors of their skin and the many rings of color to the eyes are only two aspects of their bearing that set them apart.

·.•´ The Sidhe/Drau/Elves are NOT short in stature, the short ones that resemble the Sidhe/Drau/Elves as miniature version are the Gnomes. This misinterpretation of our height/stature came from literary license used by Victorian age publishers to make their dumbed down storybooks for children more marketable and increase sales. Sidhe/Drau/Elves are “slight of stature” meaning that they are so slim about the torso and limbs that if they stand sideways against a five year old sapling baby tree that they would literally disappear from sight they are so thin. In fact the average height for Sidhe/Drau/Elves is between 7’ to 10.5’. If you take the general build of someone like Alicia Flockhart, making her eight feet tall, then you have a good general idea of what the true stature of Sidhe/Drau/Elves look like. It is a belief that humans that wanted to emulate the look of Sidhe/Drau/Elves may be the origins cause of disorders like bolemia and anorexia since cases of these have been in recorded history as far back as 1200 BC amongst cultures that have Fae Lore in their history as well.

·.•´ The Sidhe do NOT have pointed ears, only ones that have offspring where one of the birth parents is human. And even then not all half-breeds, known in Gaelic as “effin” or in Finnish and German as “wyrdvng,” would be born with pointed ears. Only those that had some sort of alignment spirit/soul with a Fae God or Goddess of the mammal varieties instead of the plant or element varieties. The effin (pronounced evan) were identified as such because the nature of the word effin itself in its oldest origins actually meant “a child of the Earth” meaning that one of their Sidhe parents was aligned with a plant or elemental Fae Deity. Likewise “wyrdvng” (pronounced veird-ing like weird but with a v sound) literally meant that these people had the weirding way, or in other-words are shapeshifters. Which is entirely different from Changelings, which have similar abilities, but Sidhe half-breeds that do so in a extremely different way and source than Changelings do, and for just as intensely different reasons or motives.

•´· There is NO word or name for baby dragons. A dragon is a dragon is a dragon no matter what age. They are not dragonettes, and they most certainly are NOT drakes. Drakes are a whole different race altogether. If any word at all is acceptable to refer to the newly born it would be “hatchling” and even then is considered a borderline insult. The reason for not having a different word for dragon young is because of the nature of the way dragons evolve and reincarnate. Dragons do not lose their memories of previous lives/incarnations from body to body/life to life. They are born knowing and remembering everything that has happened to their souls in all previous lives/incarnations. This is why you never ever never name a dragon, they tell you what their name is, because they remember what it is. This is also why Dragons are considered the smartest, wisest, most intelligent Beings in all existence. Think about it, how smart would a being be that can consciously recall everything that has ever happened to them in every lifetime? No small wonder why they are so smug, arrogant, and consider every other race inferior. You couple that with the fact that they are very very big, have enormous teeth and strength, can breath things like fire, acid, ice, smoke, etc; can squish you like a bug under one of their paws, and that man has hunted them to near extinction and for what?…trophies, prestige, bragging rights. Yeah… walk a mile in their moccasins and then tell me why they’re so grumpy all the time.

·.•´· Dragons have two arms, two legs and two wings thus equals six appendages. And for the reasons listed above are the superior intelligence of all sentient beings upon Mother Earth. Drakes have two legs and two wings and no arms thus only four appendages. Their brains are small much like their stature, they aren’t very big in size as full grown in comparison to their larger cousins Dragons. The largest of Drakes get to be about the size of an elephant, but most never get beyond the size of a cow, and that is including the wing spans. A Drake is to a Dragon what an earthworm is to a python snake. They are also not very smart, have very short attentions spans much like small children under the age of 5, and extremely hyperactive to the point of being almost like humans with ADHD. To call a Dragon a Drake or visa versa is the biggest, most unforgivable insult you can ever utter. And because Dragons remember from lifetime to lifetime, your descendants can be made to pay for your crimes many generations and hundreds of years later since Dragons hold grudges a long long time.

Etiquette, Customs and Traditions of The Fae

    .:?? Insulting A Faerie

There are so many ways to insult a Faerie, especially since the Fae's idea of morality is different as well as how they see the world is quite different than that of other races, especially the humans. Upon insulting the Fae of either Court, they will most likely take action against you, and the outcome will not be too kind.

    * Swearing Oaths: Lying is impossible for a Fae to do. If a Fae gives their word or swears to an oath, they are bound to it. If they somehow break their oath, they will become an outcast. The Rulers also follow this rule and must stand by their oaths. If another race were to break an oath to a Fae, it would be seen as a great offense and would be handled quickly.
    * When first meeting someone, it is seen as impolite to try and read their magic. Basically you would be saying, "You don't have enough power to shield yourself from my weakest magic."
    * It is an insult to ask for modesty in a non-sexual situation. It implies lack of trust or a dislike. Only when behavior becomes inappropriate can they be asked to leave.
    * Titles: Titles are very important to the Fae. If you know someone's title, use it. If they have used your title and you have not used theirs, it is an insult. You are blatantly saying you do not respect their station. Using someones title and then dropping it during a conversation is being deliberately rude. If another Fae does not use your title after you have used theirs it is an insult and it is an insult to insist that a ruler of another court uses your title.
    * The Fae do not ask personal questions unless they are invited to, then they can ask whatever they'd like.
    * Using magic and glamour to try and influence someone of a higher rank than you is considered and insult. It implies that you do not respect their station and see them as a lesser Fae.
    * One monarch cannot order another monarch to do anything. (The Queen of the Fae can command as she pleases but the Lady of UnSeelie cannot command the Seelie ruler to do something).
    * For a member of the Seelie Court to call a member of the Host a 'Sluagh' is considered a racial slur. For an UnSeelie to do so, it is considered more polite since the UnSeelie embrace the 'monsters' of the Host while the Seelie find them ugly.
    * For a Fae to trust someone and indulge private information is the most honorable of moments, and anyone who shares their most intimate secrets with those of another race, or to an individual the Fae does not trust then they will be punished or exiled, depending on the Court
    * It is seen as rude to say "Thank you" or "I am sorry". These are human sayings, Fae do not use them. Only a Fae under 200 years would thank someone, but even that is rare.
    * It is insulting to ignore a Fae who is trying to look attractive. Fae will ALWAYS compliment each other about the way they look, through words and body language. To not do so implies that they are ugly and not worthy of attention.

.:?? Rulers of the Fae & It's Courts

In Whispering Woods we have three tiers of leaders of the Faeries. The Queen of the DemiFae, the UnSeelie rulers and the Seelie rulers. Each has earned respect from their peers for a variety of reasons and should be spoken to as such, the following is some information of the stations of the leaders.

    * Power of the Court: The power, the strength of the Court comes from it's leader. If the leader is not strong, the Court is not strong. Each ruler shapes their court in their own image and their powers. If the ruler is not strong enough it is their duty to step down and not condemn their Court. What is favored by the ruler is favored by their court, this can even include favorite color. For example, if a court or the Queen is having a dinner, formal wear is worn and if you wish to please the Queen or ruler then you would wear their favorite color.

    > Seelie King: N/A
    > Seelie Queen: N/A
    > UnSeelie Queen: Red and Black
    > King of Sluagh: Black and Purple

    * For someone to be named a "Lord of ..." or "Lady of ..." means they have power of it. Example "Lady of UnSeelie" means the individual has power over the UnSeelie Court. This can also refer to powers, "Lady of Storms" might refer to Storm, the Queen's Dark Envoy who has a power over storms.

    .:?? Beauty & Compliments

    * There is a different brand of beauty within both Courts. The Seelie have very strict ideas of what beauty is while the UnSeelie view that there can be 'beauty' found in everyone. The word 'ugly' is never used within the UnSeelie Court.

    .:?? Prejudice

    * Just like the human realm there is often prejudices among the Fae. Most races see themselves as superior and often act that way. A goblin may look down upon a DemiFey and vice versa.
    * The Seelie Court is very prejudiced against the UnSeelie Court, they see themselves as 'true beings of light' that contain no darkness. They see the UnSeelie's too be monsters, impure, deceiving and deformed. The Seelie Court often uses threat of exile to the UnSeelie Court as a punishment for misdeeds. The Seelie see this as worse than being exiled from all Faerie. The UnSeelie welcome all while an UnSeelie would never be welcomed in the Seelie Court (unless they look favorable). In reality, neither Court is completely good or bad.

.:?? Sex, Marriage, Pregnancy & Children

    * Children are extremely precious to the Fae and it is rare for Fae to be able to conceive, so when a child is conceived it is a big event. Even fertile couples have to try quite a while to conceive, and sometimes they never do. Anything, regardless of species, that can breed is worth keeping alive. If a Fae is pregnant or the mated pair are fertile and there is a possibility of a child, this can keep the Fae alive and un-exiled even if they have angered the leader of their court or the Queen herself.
    * Because of how important babies are, Fae do not always marry for love. Often couples will marry because of their increased fertility, regardless of how they feel with one another. It is common for Fae to sleep with many partners until they do get pregnant, where they will then settle down and become mates. Many couples have been trapped in marriage because of this.
    * Divorce is possible and can be granted but only if both parties agree.
    * For an individual who is not a 'noble' they see the marriage as a way to gain entrance to the Courts.
    * Adultery is considered a crime, and those in a marriage may not seek lovers outside the marriage. The Queen and the Court rulers also abide by these rules.
    * All Fae like to touch and be touched. They gain comfort in this. Whether the touch is sexual or not, depends on the Fae and what comforts them. But, it is common to see Fae leaning, touching, kissing, etc another Fae.
    * Sex with humans is illegal if the human is under 18 years of age.
    * The Seelie Court frowns upon mating with 'monsters' (red caps, goblins, etc) while the UnSeelie Court usually does not pay much attention.

    .:?? Duels & Fighting

    * Any Fae can challenge another Fae to a duel. Only the Queen of the Fae or the rulers of the Courts can refuse for the duel to take place and it is usually to protect themselves or their children. The Royals are too precious to risk being lost in a duel. It is also unwise to risk displeasing the ruler by challenging their child, because you never knew how they would react if you killed their child. The challenged Fae gets to choose to method of fighting, whether it be magic, by a weapon or physical combat. (For full details on a duel, ask one of the rulers OOCly)
    * If you use your magic to best someone in a fight, it is considered cheating. It is also seen as less than chivalrous and it often makes the Fae seem weak.
    * The ritual for a duel binds the participants in combat. Within the UnSeelie Court they share blood before fighting, within the Seelie Court they share magic, or essence.
    * There are two types of blood oaths used (lip is cut and then kiss, lip and wrist is cut and put together).
    * All Duels are formed in a sacred circle traced by the ruler, usually in full view of the court. Within the circle it is a sacred place.
    * The duel is over when one of the participants is either dead or unable to leave the circle under their own power.

    .:?? Lying

    * As said before, the Fae do not and cannot lie. They bend the truth, they avoid saying the truth, or they use word play to cover the truth. They never outright lie, they just omit the truth. To lie is an incredible offense and the punishment is usually banishment from Faerie. Despite their nature, the Seelie Court and it's illusions are more likely to deceive than the UnSeelie Court. The UnSeelie Court is more truthful and honest, not trying to pretend to be something it is not. The reason for this is the Seelie Court uses their magic to appear perfect, so they must deceive more often while the UnSeelie Court does not hide their imperfections.

    .:?? Random Bits

    * Most of the older Fae do not remember, nor care, about their age. They may have a vague idea based on events and the actual date of their birth is often forgotten. Age becomes meaningless after a few millennium.
    * Blood is a precious symbol for the Fae, and it is not wasted. Blood is often used to make alliances, especially within the UnSeelie Court.
    * The Fae believe in two deities. They believe in the Goddess (who is the giver of life) and the Consort (everything that is male). Balanced.

    .:?? Rituals & The Like
There are far too many rituals to put in this one space but two below will be outlined.

Blood Price: To ask for blood price means that the next time the two Fae meet, the offending Fae will answer to the Fae that swore this ritual. One of them will die, and only then is it satisfied. The Court of the killed Fae will not seek for vengeance of this.

Virgin Rights: Based upon the old Celtic rituals, to speak Virgin Rights is when a fae stands on their own, no alliance to either court, oweing nothing to anyone for a minimum of three years. This means that the fae is outside and old feuds, grudges.

    Royalty of The Sidhe

Despite what fictional literature, movies and television tell you, here's the truth about who's who and what's what.

There are many Queens and Kings of The Fae, some are racial leaders, some are factional Monarchs. We will start with the elemental Queens and their King.

Queen of the Air Faeries known as the Demifae is Tatyana/Titania
Queen of the Earth Faeries is Mablyna aka Queen Mab
Queen of the Water Faeries is Lorelie aka Lady of the Lake (guardian of Excalibur)
Lorelie and Mablyna are single ladies since the former is the one that is the least in touch with the physical world and her interests are more cerebral than physical. Mablyna because she is ambitious and doesn't play well with others. She would never allow any man to become her King even as a consort since she would never share her power.
Tatyana is married to the one whom rules the Fire Faeries, **** Pendragon aka Dragon King, and they are the Seelie Queen and King.

There is also a King of Queen of the Goblins who is decided differently than their Sidhe cousins whom it is inherited from royal bloodlines. In the Goblin Court it decided by combat. Only the meanest toughest son of a biscuit eater gets to be King. And he chooses whom his Queen is, which can change almost daily depending on their sense of loyalty, fidelity and moods. Red Caps, the shock troops of the Goblins do not have a King or Queen since they are part of the Goblin Court. But they do have a General which is appointed by all the Red Caps as the one they would follow into Hell gladly and willingly. The chosen often does not want the job or feels worthy of it, which is exactly why he gets chosen. The ambitious are not fit to lead Red Caps.

There is a King of The Sluagh which is determined somewhat by blood rights and somewhat by combat, but mostly by whom is most fit to rule. He is traditionally the consort King to the UnSeelie Queen of the Sidhe. The UnSeelie Queen is a throne that gets passed around a bit between Mablyna and her many daughters. When Mab sits the throne the Sluagh King (aka King of the Grendels) then he doesn't get to be part of the UnSeelie Court as consort and only a secondary racial King to the UnSeelie.

There is also Kings and Queens of the various Effin Courts (Elves/Drau) which are decided by royal bloodlines. But to name any whom have sat their thrones would be a geneology listing as big as the NYC telephone books. There are many of them because they have divided up their kingdom many times that covers the entirety of Mother Earth.

Dragon Court is decided by survival of the fittest, the Queen is the largest of the Golds which is the largest of all dragons. Her King is decided in mating flights, whomever can catch her and impregnate her is the current King. Most dragons mate for life so it is not often the King is supplanted by up and comers. When true love exists between a Queen and King dragon, other males will respect it and not encroach. But among the other dragons, all bets are usually off is a male has a mind to have a certain female and visa versa.

One thing is common among all The Fae races, royalty and nobility topped and determined by the females and not the males, with the Goblin and Sluagh being the only exceptions. The best reason for this is also a practical common sense one, no woman has ever been able to say, "I don't have any children...least not any I know about." Females always know who the father is and thus the geneology of the royal bloodlines.
